Gentlemen, I just noticed What Price Glory now has the 1899 U.S. Army Khaki uniform.  Looks good!

But today only in children's sizes.  36 and 38 Dangit.

Ah, just the SET is screwed up.

Yep, noticed the same thing!  They seem to have all sizes in the individual pieces.

As my old uniforms seem to be shrinking, I went and ordered the new 1899.  I ordered the tunic and pants separate to get the size I wanted.  This evening I received an e-mail from WPG refunding the price difference from the set and the separate items.

A small thing, but nice.

Make sure you use the WPG link in the thread atop this page.

Those breeches look close enough to the 1912 Marine pattern that I'll probably have to get a pair for my Expansion Era uniform.  Cool!

Hi

I just got my order.  The size 48 blouse fits great, the size 40 breeches are fine around the waist, but are a slight bit low rise I guess.  I'm never had THAT problem before.  I'll probably order a second pair in 42, and get some Punitive Expedition breeches in the same size.

The Indiana Jones shirt is really nice.

Well, got my package from WPG today.

This may well be the best deal in a period uniform currently out there.  Well made, excellent material, with shoulder tabs for all three branch's in the pockets.  I don't know what formula they're using for inseam vs waist, but the pants they sent me were just right.  I Like it!  Works for both a Krag and a 1903.

I must say, use the measurement formula they give you EXACTLY as they say.  I did it, then ordered one size larger, because previous experience with various suppliers has shown this to be prudent.  But for this outfit it would have been better had I not.  It looks fine, i've no intention of changing it, but i'll need suspenders for these pants, and if I'd ordered as I should I would not.  This is a generously cut outfit, and I see now that the proper size would still have had plenty of room.  IE READ THE INSTRUCTIONS!  Like your wife keeps telling you . . .

But I am well pleased, and consider this a great deal for the money.

Also, the package deal now has all the sizes.

Noticed something while setting up my suspenders on these pants.  All the buttons appear to be a cast metal (Pewter?) with "U.S. Army" cast on the face of the button.  No idea if that's historical, but it's a cool detail.

The US Model 1908 Cavalry Breeches I ordered from WPG have the same buttons.

Hi Chuck

I don't remember seeing suspenders for the 1899 uniforms.  What sort are we supposed to wear with the 1899's?

Chuck, M1887 suspenders were my guess, but I knew you would KNOW!  Jerry Lee is pretty much the complete quartermaster anymore.

Hi, I also got the 1908 Cavalry pants to go with Coon Creek's Wild Bunch shirts.  The leggings look sort of short to me, but they do fit.

If you have not ordered yet these might be better?

Interesting!  I had no idea anyone was making such a thing.  I'll still probably go with the breeches since officers wore them, but I'll have to look at more of their stuff.  Thanks!
