Bat 2919

I just learned that Buck Passed away on June 11th.  Buck and Leta Berbeirch owned Coon Creek Old West who sold may of the uniform items GAF members have worn over the years.  Buck has set up his tent at many CAS events over the years (that's where I met them years ago).  Leta would work the tent as well but her claim to fame has always been that she can make up just about any uniform from a few photos.  She made the uniform I won the Grand Muster working costume contest with last weekend.

And the Khaki M1899 I wore Friday.

He will be missed.  I met him at a Civil War event outside Petersburg VA in 1991.  He had one M1874 artillery sack coat hanging up midst the CW uniforms.  It was sun faded in the shoulders from hanging so long, he'd made it on a whim.  When I mentioned I wanted it for Cowboy shooting, he wanted to know what that was.  He was VERY interested.

A true gentleman to deal with, I got a lot of stuff from  him in the early days, including the first double row mills belt I ever saw available.

And my 1902 uniform I wore Friday, plus my undress I had on at banquet.  He will be missed !!

Sent Leta an email to the coon creek address.  She thanked me so might not be a bad idea for others to offer condolences that way

I just saw this  :(

I retired from active reenacting in 2001...

I recall meeting Buck at some of the 125th- 130th CW events.
I still have a Union officer Sack coat from Coon Creek purchased 25 years ago.

I have sent my condolences via email

Leta replied to me as well .
when planets align...do the deal !

Arizona Trooper

First met Buck and Leta when I was in school at the U of Az back in the early 90s. What a great couple! Much of my kit came from them, and the late Jim Kenner, who made cartridge boxes and belts for Coon Creek for many years. Buck and Jim will be very much missed.
