Nice pistols. Which bullets have you chosen to try in those .38 Colt conversions?

We don't have a 150 RNHB bullet yet, so I like the heeled Bear Creek 140.  It works great in the BH .38 long Colt brass.

I put this one together several years ago,  the 7 1/2 "  51 barrel is lined to .357.
Actually it is the same frame & Kirst conversion with a 3" 61 Barrel , in that configuration I use heeled bullets.

Well, where I am living at now I can't shoot so I have to plan and go to my wife's family land which is about 30 min away.

We planned to go and visit them and spend the day there so I spent a couple hours last week loading up a couple different loads for the 51 Conversions. My sons also wanted to shoot some skeet so we brought all that.

After shooting skeet for a while I broke out my new 51 and was preparing to shoot. Got my targets all set up and gun laid out and realized I left all my newly made ammo at the house.  :'(

That really stinks but I am hoping to get done with work early today and go shoot. We shall see.

I miss living on my own family land in North Alabama. It's 250 acres and I could always go out and shoot anytime anywhere I wanted.

Oh well. Maybe I will get to shoot it soon cause its rough getting a new gun and not being able to shoot it right away.

That's a drag. I think we've all done something similar.

Looking forward to hearing your impressions of it when you get to shoot it.

First time I have ever done something like that but still had fun shooting skeet with my boys. Trying to gather all the stuff needed for that I guess I just forgot my revolver ammo.

I'll be sure to post my impressions of the gun when I shoot it.

I'm looking forward to hearing all about it. Especially if the front sight is tall enough.

For the last number of years, Uberti has put a much taller brass post on the '51 conversion than used to be (mine all have the short post and I think the cap guns still have the short one).  The 4 3/4" barrel I got for one of mine a couple years ago has the taller post, I like it much better.

This one has a much taller front sight than what is on my 51 Cap and Ball guns.

It looked a bit taller. Good to know it actually is.

:D  HE HE HE HE HE   :D

Front sights on ALL of my '51s fell off   ::)  Simply amazing they could ALL fall off.  I replaced them with solid BRASS dovetail sights.  Nice tall ones.  Still trying to figure why ALL of those little nubby front sights fell off ..... strange, that    ::)

Probably was a "hacking" attack !!! 8)

:)  Well, it maybe could be it's because the WHOLE front 4 inches of barrel fell off   ;)

Could it be ?? I was testing the strength of the OEM install with a Vice-Grips   ::)  NAW, not that   ::)

I once drove an hour from where I was staying to a public range in Mississippi, to shoot my CMP M1 Carbine and  new AR15 build, and realized I forgot my ammo can!  I only had one full AR15 20 rounder, and two 15 round magazines for the carbine in the stock pouch.  Short day at the range!

Okay I finally got to get out and put 100 or so rounds through it. I was shooting 110g bullets and I had two loads of Bullseye. It definitely liked the lighter load better. First shot ever with this gun was dead bullseye at about 10-15 yards. The rest were all over the target but I figured out where it was shooting and started closing the groups.

My biggest complaint and question about the gun is that I had the hardest time with the shells sliding back out of the chambers anytime the gun was held in a slightly upward motion which then would not let the cylinder turn. It did this while shooting and also when tilting back to unload the brass. I could shake the gun from front to back and you could hear the shells moving front to back also.

Has this been a problem for anyone else?
How is this fixed ?
