You should also find a small, correct size screw for the Base Pin, stuck in the box somewhere.  If not,  call Cimarron and request one.  That great big Knurled thing is for assembly only.

That's what I had to do, as no flush base pin screw was included. Still charged me for them as I ordered two.

Hi

You don't mention where you live, but if you live near a range that does Cowboy Action Shooting of some sort, I would suggest dropping by a match.  If you show any interest at all, I'm betting that the shooters will all but force you to try what they brought.

I bought a Pietta SAA Cavalry Model in .45 Colt.  I'm also a 1911 guy.  I didn't like the grip on the SAA at all.  I bought a pair of Schofields after trying one at a match.  Your "model" choices in a cowboy single action revolver (not necessarily a Colt type SAA) are:

1.  Colt replica Single Action Army.
2.  Ruger Vaquero Single Action.
3.  Remington Single Action Outlaw (1875 or 1890)
4. Schofield Singe Action break open.
5. S&W Model 3 Russian
6. Colt replica Bisley.
7. Colt replica SAA with the Thunderer grip.

Grip is very important in shooting (thank you Captain Obvious), if you don't like the grip, you won't like the gun.  You mention the 4 click which is a COLT only thing, but you also mention that you're a 1911 type which is a VERY different grip.

Hope this helps.

8. Ruger Bisley
9. Colt style conversions and Opentops, cartridge or percussion
10. Remington '58 cartridge or percussion

On the Colt style guns, OT's or SAA's, gripframes are compatible with the same manufacturer.  So on Uberti, you can swap between Army, Navy, SAA, Birdshead, and Thunderer grips.  On Pietta's can switch between Army, Navy, and SAA.  (Navy and SAA are slightly different shape on Uberti, not positive about Pietta).

;D  Ask Me!!   ;D  Ask Me!!   ;D  Got my Hand up!!

  Purists now Poo Poo Uberti.

Best value for dollar hands down is Pietta and the Great Western II, as marketed by EMF.  Dead ringer for a second generation Colt at 1/3 the price.  They also require the least fiddling to be ready to play the CAS Game.

Uberti:  Manufactures a plethora of Reproductions.  Smorgasbord of choices.  Some of their offerings have serious shortcomings.  Caveat Emptor.

Pietta:  Manufactures a good selection of Reproductions.  Best Value-for-Dollar today.

Ruger.  You don't like Ruger and I don't like Ruger so I left them out.

NEXT ??

What he said.   ;D HARD to beat Pietta.
