Grip frame screws

Does Pietta and Uberti use butter for their grip frame screws?

Even with a proper fit hollow ground screwdriver the metal gives with out turning one bit...

Welded in screws made of butter, I swear....

It's the reason I'll purchase a couple of screw sets and keep them on hand along with other parts.

Don't crank them down hard. There's no need to. Just snug so they will back out easier. I put a little bit of grease on the threads.

Another thing to do is: when reassembling, leave all screws loose until they're all in and you're sure none have cross threaded. Then snug them down evenly. This includes the front trigger guard screw.

Ruger screws are the same way, soft. Pulled out one that was cross threaded. That was from my Vaquero.  I replaced it with a new screw. I bought a screw kit for that gun as well. The other is a Pietta Frontier Stainless.

You could harden your own screws if you knew what you were doing. The screws that come in a replacememt seem to be much better, by the way.

Not being able to get them is out is an issue. My best advice is to create an new thread on this that specific topic and post it on the "Gunsmithing" section. They would have the best advice and solution. Once you have them out, then you can exercise the means to keep the screws healthy, so to speak, like I recommended.
