Outlaw?

This afternoon, while wiling away my confinement (we're all in this together...except we're separated...curious ain't it) I be-spied this on the GunsInternational site:

https://www.gunsinternational.com/guns-for-sale-online/revolvers/usfa-pistols-revolvers/usfa-45-colt-outlaw.cfm?gun_id=101394665

I was under the impression, it having been impressed on my mind (lol), that these deliberately old looking USFA single actions were called Gunslingers (I hate that name). I came by this knowledge by owning two of them, with their factory boxes so marked. The gun listed above looks a lot like my "38 Colt and S&W Special" but they're calling it an Outlaw.

Can anyone better versed in the history and models USFA offered help explain? Where and when did this "Outlaw" designation come from?

Greetings My Good Dave

Well, I am not a USFA expert, but , like many of us I am bored so I did my "poking around" thing.
The only reference to a USFA Outlaw is that advert you posted!
and interestingly, the fellow claims he has the original box & papers, but did not post photos of them.

I downloaded several USFA catalogues before they went "gone", so I will have to peruse them
at length
in a bit after I find them again  :-[

dang, things are going missing on this stupid laptap.... I "used to" have an entire library of cartridge box labels and matchbox labels
and snake oil rememdy bottle labels.... can't find them either....

more in a  bit when my little grey cells actually start to function.

In the meantime I will leave you with this melodious assortment of 1945 hit singles favorites ...  to await the
opinions of actual experts in the USFA field who can actually find their stuff and actually ustilize their brains....

LOL - prof, you have my complete and total sympathy and understanding.

:o  Wowzers  The Prof is completely at a loss   :o

Well, actually so am I.  Never heard nor was familiar with a USFA "Outlaw" but since I'm not exactly an aficionado of USFA, no body should be surprised.

The only assistance I can provide is simple.  The offering is seriously OVER PRICED.  I fear the current caretaker would consider my suggested compensation as an insult so I'll just keep it to myself.  However it's about 2K over "reasonable."  Things go better with Coke

He does seem to think quite highly of it. Of course we have to remember he's including that nifty belt and holster. That's gotta be worth somethin'...doesn't it?

It was the name I was curious about, not actually buying this particular offering. (smiley face goes here)

Ah My Dear Coffeemaker
latley as of late the little grey cells have been somewhat overstressed, but I'm sure it's nothing that a few weeks of contiuous sleep followed by
judicial jewish judicious  copious overapplication of quality codien cokain caffiene...

I admit, I am actually tryoing to use the builtin lappy toppy winny doze 7 search tools...
which seldom work.

I will have to dig out my DVD of emergency pc tools which includes open-source unix type tools applied to win type systems.
much better search results.

but back to Poor Dave's Dilemma..

I think but cannot prove that the seller is either
a) confused and lazy and did not read his box label correctly
b) is trying a bit of a scam, but which he can easily disprove/rectify by posting photos of the box & labels.

Wowzer ( to plagiarizer a phrase )   $3250  ???

Seems USFA's have reached mythical heights .... this one is approaching sainthood me thinks....

I have not heard of a USFA or USPFA "Outlaw"   course there is the possibility  :-\ in the oddity of the Doug Donnelly whimsical nomenclature.
Perhaps to gainer a rarer status, and stimulate collector frenzy.

Uberti does have an "Outlaw"     1875 Single-Action Army
when planets align...do the deal !

Blue Book of Gun Values does not show a USFA Outlaw, but does show the Gunslinger. I think the seller is confused and hasn't looked at the end label on the box.

And yet, it is so easy!
One can only hope that is the case...

When talkin' about folks professions, a gunslinger could be an outlaw and an outlaw could be a gunslinger. Me thinks he has his professions confused.  :)
