Finally getting some warm weather, so I cast a few hundred 220 grain Krag bullets.  Now it just needs to dry out a bit so I can start practicing with them!

Can't think of anyone who needs "practice" less than you Ned!

EVERYBODY needs practice!  (Need to work with the '03 for the Expansion Era, too!)

I have to cast some Krag bullets, also.
Micah might be using the new-to-me '03 for the Expansion match.

Cast about 135 Lee 500 .459 3R today and tumble lubed them.  Probably looking at 3 more days of tumble lubing.  Plan to shoot them out of a .458 Socom at approx 1230ish FPS.  They shoot good at 100 from my 88 Trapdoor (BP) but can't seem to hit the target at 200 so will stick to the 405 HB for that rifle.

Finally got to play a little on the range!  Shot a '76 Winchester, a '95 Winchester, and an '03 Springfield.  Went fifteen for fifteen at the 100!  Woo hoo!  Back in action!  (There was definitely some luck involved, but I feel much better now!)

Sadly Ben Avery is only open for 100/150/200 steel shooting right now with the covid and restricts to 2 rifles on table and racks on back table off limits.  Also one shooter per table so no spotter. This is not really conducive to getting zeros established on guns never shot by me.  Not sure how big the steel is but about the only way to get close to a zero would be to shoot at the target base initially but without a spotter who knows if the eyes will be looking at target at time of bullet hit or still in recoil mode.  May have to just bite the bullet and go out in desert with a big cardboard target.  Really need to give the new to me H&R officers model a test.  Looks brand new, the guy I got it from bought it used 30 years ago and never fired it.  The color case hardening is absolutely gorgeous as is the wood with the exception of one minor stock rub from the safe. I also want to test the Lee 500 3 R bullets out of my .458 socoms at TD Springfield velocities 1250 ish fps.

Practice, what the hell is that?
Actually, I will be going to range tomorrow, more for functional test, all guns lock up tight, but can I hit the broad side of a barn with them. Testing a 3" bbl 1877 in 41 Colt, 2x 1899s, a 32/20 & a US Army, & 2x 45 Colts, a 1902 & 1909.
Also will take a few shots with my Springfield 1879. All in BP or equivalent.
