Div Illinois is proud to announce that there will be 2 musters for 2020.  The first one to be held on 17 May and the second on 29 August.  I will inquire to see if the GG will be given permission to attend on the May date.  Ain't going to push my luck for 2.  We will observe some steel, 2x4, precision rifle and pistol.  Info the rifle targets have shrunk from last years.  Plans are still being mixed for refreshments..  Be advised both are weather permitting as this range is on private property.  Burn up some ammo!!!

I am watching things and stuff (gov picklehead, virus stats, and other crap) which would or could cause me to cancel this muster.  Like I have said before we shoot on private property and are more or less weather governed.  When it rains the range turns into a "slip and slide" and everything morphs down to the shotgun stage.  That all said, and remembering what I went through every time a deployment came about and what the medicals dispensed into your hind quarters, I will use caution and try to come to a sensical decision before I cancel.  As of this writing, the Sep Muster is a go, weather permitting.
I hope that ALL of you are taking precautions to keep yourselves, your family, safe and healthy!!

Keeping a "little buddy" handy!!

I found an e-mail in my Inbox this morning from the Rock River Regulators of Beloit, WI, cancelling their "Season Opener" match of April 4th. I can imagine that must have been a difficult call for Stoney Mike to make.

I fear this may be a pattern for this year. I'm 64 years old and diabetic (not taking insulin yet), so I'm at the top of the "slippery slope" of the "at risk posse" for the virus. A substantial number of fellow SASS, GAF and NCOWS shooters are close to my age or older and have underlying medical conditions. Some undoubtedly will decide not to attend matches for a while due to personal or work responsibilities, as well as their health concerns. Some match organizers may decide to cancel other matches voluntarily, and who knows what local, state and federal restrictions may be imposed upon them.

Having said that, I wish to affirm my intent to attend all the shooting events I normally do, unless they are cancelled, prohibited by government edict, or the virus strikes me. I hope to see, next season, if not this one, all the familiar faces at the ranges again. Good luck to us all.

Ok, must be some confusion on my scheduling.  Once again, DIVISION of Illinois 2 musters this year.  First one to be held on 17 May and the second to be held on 29 August.

Both of these musters are weather dependent because they are being held on private property.  IE if it rains like crazy near the dates scheduled, then more than likely I will have to cancel.
Again, Division of Illinois.  If I mentioned Sep I might have been thinking of the alternate date.  My apologies.

Department of Mizzo is scheduled for 18 April, at the Big Springs Shooting Complex in Iowa.  Major Whiskey Double is working the details.  See DEPT of Missouri Thread.

Now this COVID 19 stuff, it is too early for me to call off the May shoot.  We (BOD) have not even checked the range condition (still wet).  That is on the calendar for 8 April unless gov picklehead extends the stay at home policy in which case we will probably have to cancel the first cowboy shoot and the May GAF muster could be in jeopardy.

I am watching and will decide accordingly.

To all concerned, Div Illinois will go on as scheduled (17 May and 29 August) for now.  We who live here in Il have been directed to STAY AT HOME until 30 April.  I will make a determination on 1 May as to whether or not we will shoot on 17 May.  I sure do hope to, but...

To all who plan to attend the Div Illinois Muster on 17 May, gov picklehead has put us all on lock-down until 30 May.  Have to wear a mask in public.  As of now, I don't know!!  Maybe, but picklehead is not moving anything but his bowels.  So do stay tuned.  If I have to cancel I will put the word out NLT 10 May.
BS times for sure!!!

What happened to River City John's post? I happened to agree with it. I am more offended by your name calling. I may not agree with all that is going on around me, but we need to remain civil. Hoping local governments will step in, break from state & set their own level of social distancing & rolling back toward some normalicy.
I live with the realization, I will be wearing a mask in public all summer, far too many people asystematics running around.

Brian, I deleted it myself.

Thanks for the reply. Your & my reply are called for the 3 C's, Civility, Calm, & Caution. I am hoping that our local governments will step up & say no to state. Use some common sense! What is necessary in Chicago, isn't necessary for the rest of the state.

My apologies if I have offended anyone in my previous posts.  So with that I'll get right to it.  Div Illinois17 May Muster is cancelled.  The governor of IL has directed that we stay home until and through 30 May.   I will not reschedule this muster, but will go forward with the August muster, weather and the state of IL permitting.  I am calm and civil, however I am also aware of what the Constitution tells us (US).   During 20 years of active military service, I have seen socialism and martial law up close.  These days resemble what I have seen in the past.  And, yes, I do not need the representatives of the governor's office showing  up and shutting me down.
Agreed, do take care and watch out for yourselves.

I am sorry it had to be canceled, looking forward to August.

Give the abhorrent anti-gun nature of the Governor and his political party in Illinois, and the average age and health statuses of members of GAF, SASS, NCOWS and several other shooting disciplines, I'm surprised shooting events weren't granted meeting exemptions in the hope that we would congregate and cause our own extinction.

Here In IL Princess Lori Light-in-the-head, Mayor of Cheecargo, has put a 14 day quarantine on all folks coming into Cheecargo from out of state.  Where I will be holding the Div IL Muster, luckily, is north-west of her domain.  Motels on the very east side of Rockford are open and doing some business.  The only one in west Rockford looked slow when I went by on this past Sunday.  I will inquire as to motel availability and share it on a separate post.  I have not heard anything about what gubna Picklehead has planned for the state.  Usually he and Lori are of the same thinking.
So if any are planning on coming to the Div Il Muster, do stay tuned for further developments.

Bottom line, I aint sure!!

I forgot to add that the muster I am referring to is the one which I have scheduled for Sat 29 August.  Waiting on the gubna!!

I stated that I would post something about motels, so here goes.  The motels on the FAR east side of Rockford are all open.  There is one on the west side of town and it is open too.  Now the kicker...  Gubna Picklehead has put a 14 day quarantine on people from out of state.  So far I think that it is still a bad rumor, but I don't know for sure.  It is for sure in cheegargo.
I don't want to sound as a downer, but it might be in your best interest to forgo the Il muster and wait until next year.  Things are getting liberal fast here and all throughout the state.   So if you come, you come at your own risk!??!

Here's a link to Winnebago County, ILL quarantine guidelines:  https://www.mystateline.com/news/local-news/winnebago-county-recommends-quarantine-for-travelers-from-20-states-including-wisconsin/

I would suggest making as few stops in Illinois as possible - a good practice for those of us non-FIBs who aren't residents of Arkansas, Mississippi, Texas, or Virginia, the only 4 states whose residents Illinois will allow to apply for an ILL non-resident concealed carry permit. ILL does not recognize ANY out-of-state concealed carry permits.

I believe Mayor Lighthead of Chicago is either urging or ordering a 14 day quarantine for those visiting Chicago.

Keep a mask in your vehicle in case you need it. I believe most states have gone to requiring a mask if you enter a public or commercial building. Who can say what other legislation will be passed between now and the muster to try to regulate germs. I'd like to see mandatory home quarantine for elected officials and politicians until they test positive for common sense 14 days in a row.

Snidely is correct and the link he posted is the one I could not find. (Computers and I clash, often!!)  Stay the 7734 out of cheecargo, PERIOD!!!  If you hail from the close border cities/small towns, and don't go stopping all over Illinois, you probably will be ok.  If you have more than 2 hours drive, well, it is up to you.

(Thanks for posting, Kevin!!  I looked???)

When traveling from Janesville Wisconsin to visit friends or family in Fort Wayne, Indiana, I would drive south on 90/39 down to Highway 30 and take that east to Valparaiso just to avoid the entire Chicago/Cook County mess. It involved some stop-n-go traffic through some small towns and took an extra 40-45 minutes back in the 80's, but it was well worth it to me not to worry about the Kamikaze lane changers and Rocketman entrance/exit drivers on I-90/94 - plus I saved on tolls.
