You know better than that Prof, it?s the govment, ain?t their money, throw it in the furnace and get a new stock. How many Krags were safely stored in Manila Bay?

I think Ed is spot on ... I doubt any armory repaired a stock this damaged 

It does however lead me to another "want to" project ...Id like a Krag Bayonet for it.

I'm looking for maybe a beater I can restore to its former glory . Ebay is a source but they are to proud of them....

Here is beater British Bayonet I restored and it was toast when I started , some bubba had use a bench grinder in an failed attempt to sharpen it
rusty and forlorn it begged to be resurrected.

Anyone have an old Krag beater bayonet ?

BTW I followed BE's rebuild or makeover of his Krag Bolo Bayonet, it was uber cool.

Maybe a US arsenal wouldn't consider repairing that stock but the Soviets would have done that and so much more on a regular basis.  Some of the Russian stock repairs I've observed over the years have been truly amazing and so well done.

I have French Berthier Artillery Carbine that was arsenal restored ... to repair digs in the wood they used 1/8 dowels in about 5-6 places.
One was much like this - OOO  another was OO

I think some of the screw dimensions go clear back to the Leger 1763 Chareliville muskets.  Many of the screw and bolt dimensions for pre Krag us weapons are actually in millimeters, as so much of the parts were based on the initial french design adapted/adopted as the M1795.

Yes and this is also why Springfield rifles and muskets had metric threaded screws

I also have a Berthier carbine with a stock repair much like that.  After Verdun, the French could not throw anything away.

In the way of an update  picked won a 1900 Krag Bayonet tonight .... price was not bad

A sad story though. When I was kid 60 odd years ago I had Krag Bayonet , stupid kid didn't really know what I had back then
I can recall it well , don't recall how I came by it 
Prolly bought for a buck or two at the huge Army Navy Store in Miami.
