Afternoon all.

Mid 50s out today. Sun shining, and windy.

Whatever this crud I got is, it's not fun. Went from a runny nose yesterday to bronchitis and fever today. Lucky me.

I got a Flu shot today,  first time they ever ask did I want the Standard or Senior version ?. :-\
Recommended from us over 65 types ,
Seems the senior version has an extra ingredient for older bodies to help assimilate the shot  ???

The senior version is supplied in two consecutive reduced  doses, some days apart.
Or so I was told.
Did I believe it ?
We are not sure...

Holy scrap I stand corrected, senior version is. Stronger nad broader spectrum:

?Fluzone High-Dose is an injected flu vaccine formulated for people age 65 years and older. Like other flu vaccines, Fluzone High-Dose is made up of the three flu strains most likely to cause the flu during the upcoming season. The high-dose vaccine, however, contains four times as much flu virus antigen ? the part of the vaccine that stimulates the immune system ? as regular Fluzone and other standard flu vaccines.

Why is it needed?

In response to a regular flu shot, older people produce 50 to 75 percent fewer antibodies, which protect against the vaccine antigens, than do younger adults.

Evidence that a high-dose flu vaccine can compensate for this difference originally comes from studies that found higher post-vaccine antibody levels in older adults who received high-dose flu vaccines than in those who received standard flu vaccines.

In addition, one study found almost 25 percent fewer cases of proven influenza in adults age 65 and older who took the high-dose vaccine compared with those who took the standard-dose vaccine.?

Ok, don,t trust nobody.

Weather yesterday Gray overcast  turned spoiler over night....
Tropical Storm Nestor  has us under a tornado watch for Central Florida.
A possible tornado in Polk county west of us where multiple sources are saying that several tractor trailers have been turned over.
Highest threat for a tornado is shifting north from Orlando north of us.

Rain continues here with some gusts and occasionally heavy rain

Woke up this morning feeling like someone was sticking an ice pick into my lower back whenever I turned my body or leaned forward. Tried resting it during the day but didn't help any. Looks like I'm going to miss the last shoot of the year tomorrow.Getting old isn't for sissies.

Hope the back gets to feeling better there, Major. My girlfriend is going to the doctor tomorrow to have her tailbone realigned :o. I didn't know that was a thing. But I don't like the sounds of it.

Thanks for the kind thoughts, The sawbones wants to put a spinal cord stimulator in, says it will help with the pain by deadening the nerves. But I have to go see a psychologist to make sure I'm a good candidate for it. Have to find out what limitations I'll have with it.

Professor,
I have been dealing with this since 1996, I have a couple herniated disks (L3 to L5), spinal stenosis, arthritis in my spine as well as my hips and knees. They have tried every possible treatment to lower my pain level there is. I am not a candidate for surgery on my spine so the spinal cord stimulator is their last hope of relieving my pain.

A fellow I used to work for had one of those put in. It got him off a 12 year Vicodin prescription.  His pain was caused by a fall off the top of a propane delivery truck.
