Considering that swell little holster came from "scrap" you have had laying around for who knows how long, and NOW it's a right fine scabbard for yer brandy knew pistola, I gotta say "Good On Ya."  Ever body should have "scrap" like dat you betcha.

It prolly was 5 or 6 years ago. Actually, it was cutout in different pattern and never was taken beyond that.

The piece was too small for anything old west, so it became the snubby Taurus's.

For the field guns, I figure "no rust" is good, a bit of "cold blue" is better.

It is only the labor of love projects like my grandpa's "better" grade marlin '95 that I am restore the wood and slow rsut bluing the steel....
And, btw, contrary to many opinions, when in the hands of a competant mechanic,  the marlins are no more dangerous than a mod 97 winchester. So there. Nanny nanny poo poo.

Only Shotgun I still own is my Dads MODEL 870 WINGMASTER 12 guage
He bought it in the early 60's and it was used then.... probably made in the 50's.

For 70 odd years old its sill in pretty good shape.

Israeli Arms Industries IAI M1 30 Carbine
looks virtually unfired.








has nothing to do with Israel, was built and sold ~ 1998-2002 from
somplace in Texas. Recievers were cast in different places, mostly
in Spain, and the barrels came from Green Mountain.

The American Rifleman January 2001 p.74-75 (authored in 2000) provides a basic review of the IAI M1 Carbine and indicates it was manufactured in Houston by IAI. The receiver was made from investment cast 4140 steel and most parts were manufactured domestically. IAI manufactured parts for the gas system, rear sight assembly, and a number of pins and springs. IAI was planning to manufacture their own trigger housings, bolts, and produce a version in ".22 Carbine (5.7mm Johnson)". The model provided to the magazine for testing had a WWII GI trigger housing and bolt.

According to the author, operation of the carbine was the same as the original U.S. GI carbines and all parts are interchangeable. IAI finish-machined the receiver, barrel, and operating rod. The chamber of the barrel was manufactured slightly tighter than the original GI carbines, and the testing done for the article revealed the IAI carbine provided groups of 2" to 2 1/2" at 50 yards, compared to the GI carbine's 3" to 5" with the same ammunition fired under the same conditions. The IAI M1 Carbine was available in three configurations at the time this article was published.

roll engraved Pieta, am much happier! Changed out black plastic grips for wood.

I will take roll engraving any day - Roll engraving looks really good to my eye.
As a foreign Euro guy said couple years ago, the laser engraved actually does looks quite bad.

Aside from acquiring and collecting....one of my favorite past times is tracing the history of the Milsurps.
Beating the summer heat by perusing the internet, reading the history.
I enjoy Forgotten Weapons' Ian McCollum & C&Rsenal.

I spent much enjoyable hours researching my 03 Springfield, the various marks and a stock stamps.
That I have a pretty good grasp on, where it was and when during WW2.

I'm currently doing similar, searching for my Enfield #1 Mk 3* ( i will never know who, or where it was,
prior to...but
I will learn its travel after its FTR and subsequent import by C.I.A.

So far I know it was rebuilt @ Royal Small Arms Factory sometime well before 1988. (possibly 1954)
A letter to Century International Arms may shed more light.
The numbers all match Receiver, Bolt, and end cap with no restamps or strike thru

Don't remember if I've shown my No1 Mk3 Dispersal Rifle here. It had a run in with a hacksaw and lost but imo looks and handles much nicer.

How is the wrist marked under the bolt ?  I'm assuming B

Dispersal No 1's only have the first letter of the manufacturer on the wrist and as far as I know were only made by BSA, they were made during the WWII bombing and thus the dispersal to other outside manufactures.

Here is a photo, only one I seem to have, a 10-shot group at 50 yds. bench rested.
Found another Photo with better results (the lower hit was my first shot)
There is nothing scientific about the results, just testing my loads.


2 or 3 years ago, before Covid anyway, my load was the Missouri Bullet Co, Hi-Tek coated .312 Diameter, 167 Grain FP with 13 grains of Trailboss.

I had messed around with a few different grains of Trailboss but settled on 13 grains, they chrono @ around 1325 FPS.

I made up the box labels from some existing surplus packs...
