I should also offer this extended tidbit, When...
I gave the above H&R 999 to my Dad that Christmas 1971.
He then insisted that I receive his S&W "Hand Ejector", he wanted me to have it.
This is the side arm he had on board the "Lenape" his 34' cabin cruiser.
He volunteered for service in the US Coast Guard along with the Boat and was accepted, just after Pearl Harbor.
During early months of World War II, he became temporary member of the Coast Guard Reserve. These temporary members brought their boats which would be used for safety patrols. Coast Guard Headquarters allowed some of those boats to be equipped with machine guns and they could carry pistols and rifles on patrols. (an enlisted CG man was assigned to go along armed with 1911 & 03)

It's another priceless piece to me   :) Made in 1926

I was about 10 years old when I first got to shoot this one as I recall. I remember the recoil as "WOW".
big stuff, big caliber when compared to the 22 LR I had shot before...

I did it again.  ;D
Taurus 66. .357 Mag. 7 shot cylinder. Appears to have been made in 2002. It is Taurus' version of the S&W 686 plus at about half the price.

Another piece that's dear to me is my Dads Remington Model 341 built prior to WW2.
It was produced between 1936 - 1940 when Remington went to war production.
This was the first gun I ever shot and owned; Dad gave to me when I was 10.
It would chamber 22 short, Long and Long Rifle.

I recall my Dad contemplated shortening the stock's LOP so I could shoulder it, I used to hold it in my armpit to aim.
I must have about 8 or so. I'm glad he did not, he realized I'd would grow into it.
I was a deadeye and a threat to every tin can and bottle I collected.  :D

Great memories  :) and still shoots great.

I have shown 3 of my Dads/ my heirlooms, it's only fitting to show the fourth one as well.
The Model 870 Remington, we shot clay pigeons with together.
It is the only shotgun I have any more, having traded or sold my various CAS doubles and Norinco
1897 Trench Gun.

Roger, how can you be a gunoholic if you're trading or selling your toys. Sounds like you're in recovery.

It's part of the syndrome, trade up, trade laterally or sell and use the funds and buy more  ::)

My gun catalog inventory reads like non-fiction.

This one followed me home, a .38 Special Richards-Mason. Gotta swap the grips out for some Army size.

great Score Deacon!

Since it needs a front sight, I like to recommend the tritium 3 dot sights - they really work in the dark and line up quickly.

I would post what my "new favorite" carry sights are, but it would crack open a hornets nest lol

Thanks! It appears it is an ex PDgun from what I can tell.  It has night sights but the front one is very dim, the rears are still very good.  So a new  Trijicon is on order along  with magazines. Gotta find my old Hogue Pau Ferro grips  from a former 220.

Today is a poignant day in my memory, on this day 3 years ago my shooting pard and fidus Achates
the late John Holmes passed.  :(

We haunted our Friendly LGS every Saturday morning like clockwork.
had lunch together 3 or more times a week.
We shot NCOWS, hosting the Florida Posse' Cracker Cow Cavalry, which he and I chartered, and travel out of State to Matches in S. Carolina & Texas & Ind., several conventions and the National in 2016.

John and I often went to the Melbourne Fl Gun shows, we also traded many guns between us.

I've shown this one before, but on this day, I present again, our last trade just 3 days before his unexpected passing.

A Very cool
French MAB PA 15, these were France's offering to the trials for NATO.
15 rounds (one more than the FN High-power)
This one purchased in Heidelburg, Germany US Post exchange by a former high school friend of John's and Air Force Officer.
This is the military version; MAB briefly had a civilian version offering for import, so they are somewhat rare here in the US.

So, I have it out and will send some 9MM into my bullet traps, which just feels good  :)

Boy, time has sure flown by, the thread is near 5 years old.  :o

I wanted to recall the time frame of a purchased piece VS another, as to which order one came before the other  ???

Well, I picked up an awfully clean little US Revolver in .32 S&W today. Actually made by Iver Johnson, it will serve me as a Pocket Pistol for side matches.
