I read on the Barracks Board, ( strangely not here on NCOWS ) the 2020 National will be held in Parker KS.

Details are still being worked out.  The host range for the last 12 years has gotten greedy.  They wanted  2 1/2 times what  they have charged in the past.
(The KVC, Double M Cowboys and the Johnson County Rangers have all expressed and interest in hosting the 2020 NCOWS National Match.)

Proper announcements will be made soon.

That would be my fault as I was trying to work out dates that would not step on GAF. Never dawned on me someone would take it upon themselves to announce it for the Executive Committee.

Well....

The 2020 NCOWS National match will be held June 3-6 at the Free State Rangers range SW of Parker Kansas.

After much research, comparison and discussion; the Executive Committee selected the Kansas Vigilance Committee's proposal to host the 2020 National Match.

Items considered were;

Range Facilities (including stages & long range)
Hotel availability
Banquet; menu, facility & price
and of course Cost.

Well, that is cool, as Google tells me it is only 11 miles east of where we normally shoot.   Sounds like a lot of work for the KVC guys.   Oh wait, that includes me, gulp.
Interesting timing, as I have been reevaluating my approach to life and had decided I would try and make the trek east to participate, just ordered a canvas wedge tent and all.   So, now I will have a closer commute.

First of all thanks to the Evansville members for the good run we had there. We got to watch Dustin grow up from being a gopher, to Match Director. Miss Theresa and I always enjoyed the shoots in Evansville even though I HATED driving through St. Louis.

Thanks to the KVC for stepping up and keeping our National Shoot alive! We're looking forward to a new venue,  hope it's not too far west for our friends in the east.  The reality is the shoot can't be close for everybody, central Kansas is pretty close to the middle.

Hey Major,
If you fly into KC, it is just about 1.5-2 hour drive (not 100% that it is not closer to 1.5, as I am putting in the perspective of my typical driving routine)

that is very true ....as popular song writer said in lyrics ... " you can't please everyone"  or meaning to that effect  :)

My sentiments exactly Mr. Scott.
I was fortunate enough to attend the first eleven Nationals in Evansvile. I had to miss number twelve due to our move to Florida. I'm going to do my darndest to make the 2020 Nationals. The NCOWS Nationals is a first class premiere event not to be missed.

I believe it was during my first trip to the Nationals in Evansville that I met the outlaw biker turned old west desperado Johnny McCrae! One of my favorite things about the shoot is meeting people from all around the country.(Texas included!)

I am not sure what I was smoking.   Had the DUH moment about flying with firearms much later.

It can be done by checking them in locked cases. Ammo is a different story. It would have to be shipped ahead of time.

I've done it ( flying with checked firearms ) .... was not a harmonious experience...

I most adventures experience  , was when the Red Cap ( Porter )  allow my locked ( airline approved w/ their logo affixed ) case to fall off the cart, popping open ! even thought it had 4 clasps 2 of which keyed entry .... allowing my two guns (rifle & revolver) to totally expose , that raised more that a few concerns , I can tell you !
I was present when he dropped it  >:(

The Case was damaged and would not lock ...so the airline replaced it with a new one, as I offer to hand in the keys to the damage one, and the shocker was when I was told all of their cases are KEYED ALIKE !!! ...as in anyone with alike case or any yahoo on the tarmac with a key could open my "secure" case  ::)

I'll pass on flying with guns

Maybe this old outlaw biker will ride his Harley out to Kansas.

For the 1st time in years, I can commit. I have my irons in too many fires, my schedule is set by December the year before, so if not on paper, select what is scheduled. Motel reservation made. Already on paper, 6/4 last day at work, must attend, but 1/2 day. So will miss side matches, & arrive PM on the 4th.
