Two Flints,
Need some help Please..
Picking up a carbine serial number 58818 .. standard Model 1860 in Civil War Configuration 

Gun is in Great condition and looks like it was used but taken care of very nicely.  Crisp bore and lovely finish.

Sorry for being tardy with serial # information . . . two closest serial #s to your 58,818 are as follows - you'll have to pick which unit from the two   ::)

#58808 -  Spencer Carbine issued to Company D, 1st New York Mounted Rifles in 1865 (no day or month given).

or

58828 - Spencer Carbine issued to Company G, 18th New York Volunteer Cavalry on May 10, 1865.

Nice they are both New York Units.. That is a strong leaning towards at least being issued to a New York unit.. but then again, who knows really.
