Question about SASS legal revolvers
« on: December 06, 2005, 08:59:41 PM »
I am new to Cowboy Action Shooting and I have a question for anyone who can help.  Is the Ruger New Model Blackhawk in .45 Colt a legal revolver for SASS shoots?  And if not is there a way I can get a listing of legal revolvers, rifles, and shotguns for SASS shoots?   Thanks for any assitance.

Howdy Pard! Good to see ya here. Pull up a stump and have a cup'a. As far as the Ruger Blackhawk.... I believe that has adjustable sights. If so, yes it is legal, but only in the modern catagory.

Here is a link to the page that has the SASS Shooters Handbook.

The firearms section starts on page 5. Hope this helps.  ;)

Pard, what Jax said. It's legal only in the modern category. We've got a bunch of folks shooting them in our local clubs.

Black Hawks are also legal in age based categories.  If you're shooting 49er, senior or elder stateman then you can shoot Black Hawks.

Yep.  Sure are legal to use.  Least ways I hope they are....because I use a pair at every match! Unless you're old enough to compete in an age-based, they are restricted to "Modern" class though.  Even so....shoot 'em and enjoy.
