I decided this needs a separate thread.
I picked up a 65 carbine yesterday. The owner also had a 10 tube Blakeslee box that he for with the gun. The condition is poor with some leather loss and lid broken from the hinge. There is no shoulder strap. What would the value be and would anyone be interested in it if I pick it up. Sorry I'd didn't get pictures, but probably can.

mgmradio,

Any of the Blakeslee Cartridge Boxes are hard to come by in just about any condition.

My suggestion would be to keep the gun and box together. They would be worth more as a unit.
The 10 tube box is a bit harder to find than the earlier 6 tube box.
My best,

El Supremo

Hello, MGMradio:

Tx for the great photo's.

On the box:

If possible, please see if the wooden insert slides out.  If so, try to find any parting lines on exterior flats that indicate it was glued together. I am trying to confirm a friend's observation that they were milled in half-deep fashion and then glued to avoid drill bit runout that opened gaps between the thin walls.

Thanks,

Kevin,
The box is not in my possession at this time. It is very fragile and when I tried to pull one of the loading tubes it didn't want to move. Granted I didn't put any real force on it. The box has lived in Arizona for a long time and is very dry.
I'm just trying to decide if it's worth wat he wants for it in the condition its in.
