I was visiting with a friend today with a set up of display only guns one of which one was a Spencer #30263.  Had post war modifications of a very neat rear fixed sight. Removed barrel band ( it was a carbine) and set trigger installation. Eventually it will come up for sale as he is getting older.  I am curious to see if there is any unit information. I will see if Two Flints can post pictures. I find these post war mods interesting.

Thanks Two Flints— maybe when my grandkids get a little older they can help me with this photo thingy!

You're never too old . . . just takes patience and a lot of "trial & error" :P :P

Good morning Two Flints!  Spent a couple hours on trying to post pictures  to Imgur.com with no luck.  Imgur apparently does not like iPads  and also does not like my rather old Apple desk top but I will keep plugging away.

If you have a chance please check Spencer #30263.

Your  serial #30263 - SRS lists Spencer Carbine serial #30261 issued to Company F, 6th Michigan Volunteer Cavalry on February 1, 1865.

Thanks Two Flints—-that was close but no cigar! Does give me confidence it was actually used in CW.
