Hello:

I follow and LIKE Ian's stuff.

Still makes me cringe to watch EVEN AN ARMISPORT beaten up.

Wonder if he'd mud test some of HIS expensive FRENCH military arms.
Haha.

Pay attention to that soft voice in your head.

I came here to post the video.....
Yes, I cringed a little bit!

Ian and Karl are good guys.
Lucky that I get to shoot with them.

I've seen them do this to some very expensive, hard to get firearms, all driven by viewer requests.  Fun to watch Ian cringe as the mud goes on!  Right now, the only manually operated repeater that has passed, has been the Winchester 1895.  Be ready to hear howls when they do the 1873 Winchester!

The problem here with the Spencer, is that the block drops vertically before rotating back inside the reciever.  Thus any mud on top of the block gets scraped off right onto the breach face, and down into the action.
Civilize them with a Krag . . .

:-\ :-\ :-\ :-\ I'm not really sure what was the purpose of the video . . . just another example of "mud slinging" (excuse the pun) at MY beloved Spencer.  Who in the world would cake their Spencer with that much mud just to see if it would chamber a round and fire ::) ::)

If you caked an M-16 with that much mud it also wouldn't fire, so we HAD to keep them clean, our life depended on it . . . maybe that's one of the reasons why my weapon of choice in Vietnam was the M-79.

Desecration of a classic military rifle! What is the point of subjecting it to a test that it was not asked to pass historically.?

It was primarily the weapon of the mounted soldier, carried on a shoulder sling or scabbard.

I don't think that a '63 Sharps carbine (or any other CW carbine) would have faired much better before it failed to go into battery.
