CRKT tomahawks

My grandson gave me CRKT NOBO tactical tomahawk.  It is a great design and very nice to handle, but I have one issue with it:  it has a silver-grey finish that just looks like crap on toast to me.  Can anyone tell me what it is and how I can remove it without damaging the 'hawk?

I think that is a Soda Blast finish ( less abrasive than sand ) or it may be Glass beaded .
Try wiping it with white Vinegar allow to sit and repeat .... it should brown down some

that is a nice looking hawk!
I got onto their website and they say it is 1055 carbon steel with a clear lacquer paint over a hammered finish.

1055  is a good choice for axe or knife steel,  it sharpens easily and holds an edge.

I would surmise that the right paint/lacquer remover followed by vinegar or cold blue or brown would achieve that which you desire...

All the above are good suggestions!
My experience with new tools is to use them. Split some kindling (a bunch of kindling) and see how it looks after.
