Campaign uniform or Dress Uniform?

Hi

I'm considering getting a nice Quartermaster Shop Cavalry Shell Jacket for a Lieutenant Colonel.  They are really purdy and have the galoons on them.  I was thinking though, are Senior Office Shell Jackets considered a dress uniform or a field uniform?  I've got pretty much the whole deal for a Civil War Vet field uniform, and the 1884 set.  No dress uniform though.  I GUESS I could get the frock coat if I have to...

Just to be clear, the way I read the Muster Guide, I shoot and get judged on a uniform, not on field AND dress.  True or False?

Back to reloading.

Technically it's a field uniform, but so is my white Sumer Tropics uniform.

Most of us probably wear undress uniforms for the Dress uniform contest. Undress works for The Dress Uniform contest Depending on how you wear it.

False, you can be judged on both uniforms. It's just that to be eligible for the Brigade Championship you have to wear a uniform for the shooting events and "Qualify for uniform judging in a uniform worn during the shooting phase of competition."

Hi Jerry

That's the one, it's too cool.  Double breasted coats look good.  I'm not sure about the swirly stuff on the sleeves though.  What I also like is the part where I can put clips on the shoulders and swap from Cavalry to Staff etc.  $29.00 for the boards beats $99 for the 1872 knots.  Don't want the 7th's $79.00 ones, not lucky.  Anyway, the CW uniforms match the period of the Sharps I have, while the 1895 matches the Krag.

From what you wrote above, I don't HAVE to be judged on both Field AND Dress, but if I shoot in a uniform applicable to my rifle, I COULD compete in a Dress Uniform later.

Thanks

Mike
