Hello:

Photo's will be attached by Two Flints.  Thanks Fred.

Am at the N-SSA Spring Nationals.
Saw the subject original Spencer rifle in a sutler's booth. Name of sutler can be provided.

It appears as follows:
1865 cartridge guide.
Shallow extractor cut in the end of the barrel.
"NM" stamped just ahead of receiver.
Regular maker's mark on top of the receiver.
Right hand twist rifling of more than three lands and grooves.
The serial number of 105XXX seems to have smaller than normal sized numerals.
There is the appearance of faint grinding marks over the area where the serial number is stamped.
No obvious odd alterations.

Not sure about serial numbers this high.

So, thanks in advance for any enlightenment.
And again to Two Flints.

Respectfully,
El Supremo/Kevin Tinny

Looks like a 1867-68 new model in 56-50.  I suppose is could be a spare parts special put together after the company sale for export?

El Supremo

Thanks, IBGreen:

Went back to examine it more this morning and it had been sold for approx $2,000.
Lasted less than four hours in the booth.
Being a non-CW era item, it is not approved for N-SSA skirmishing.
Perhaps a re-enactor grabbed it.
Seller said the buyer cleaned and examined the bore before final purchase.
It cleaned up nicely!

Mine cycles Starline brass wonderfully.  They are great shooters.  A switch out of the cartridge guide to an 1860 version should be all that is needed to replicate a m1865 that is approved via a SAC card (I could be wrong).

Nice catch, IB:

Thanks for the suggestion. Will remember that.
Smarter man got a shooter!
