Does anyone know the availability of these revolvers?

Back in Oct of last year (7 1/2 months wait on order, now) Abilene and I had a discussion, in a different posting, that 19 (44spec - 8" barrel - std grade) were on order from Italy.  Any new info out there on these?

My patience is not gone, just wondering.

Thanks

Well all I can tell you from the last inventory I saw is there are 25 on order and 20 of those are committed.  Sometimes if you call them they have an idea when they are coming (I think that they always know what is on the next incoming shipment.  Beyond that are estimates).  Good luck!

When I got my author Type II from Cimarron last year, they only had 45 Colt 7.5s.  It worked well, because that is what I wanted. (original .44 Colt rounds used a210 grain, .452" to .454" healed bullet over about 25-26. grains of powder.  I use a 200 grain, .452" bullet over the equivalent on my .45 Schofield cases.  I think it is closer to accurate than a .429" bullet in a .44 Special case...but that's just me! ;D

Tuolumne,

I totally agree with you about the 0.454 original Richard colt bore.  Being a traditionalist, I would like to have a correct cylinder/bore, because I can and do load for it.  But, I came across 500 Starline 44 colt brass years ago and will be using them and a light 0.429 bullet, like lee 200grn flat or 214grn RN. If I could change the barrel or have it re-bored and re-rifled that would be the ultimate.  But allas, not to be.  The 44 spec cartridge option is just that an option to use my 44 special std loads in it, if I feel like.

I use 44Rus bullets in my Cim Uberti 1872 Open Top, not the chambered 44 Colt, because 2 were documented be chambered and bored for this round, not the more common 44 Henry.  I like that 44Rus round in BP.

This revolver is just for my fun, not any form of competition.

I remember waiting for the first availability of the Cimarron Richards Type II.  Seem'd like near forever.  Was almost as bad as waiting for the Capt. Schaeffer replica 1851 (That is the Bestist).  I had a pair of Type IIs in 44 Colt.  Really liked em, but when I switched to Cap Guns, they had to go.

I wasn't really happy with the Type II as Uberti made the guns bigger to accommodate the 45 Colt.  Personal opinion is the conversions should never have been scaled up for the 45 Colt.  Should have been made true to scale and chambered in 44 Colt and 44 Special.  Mine, running 44 Russian were a real treat to play with.

Cap Guns ROCK!!!

If you recall (sure you do!) ASM did that and you will only be able to chamber 44 Colt, no Russian or Special (as well as no .45) due to the rims being too big.

OH ............. pp00p.

I do remember ASM doing that.  Drat.  Should have remembered that some sooner.  Of course with a little 3f and some Cream-0-Wheat..

I got an idea.  Why just get a new cartridge developed called the .44 Cowboy Special.  Russian length, Colt rim.  (or trim Colt's; whatever).

Leverluver

Even my early (long forcing cone, short cylinder) RM is as Abilene describes; 44 Colt only.  Won't chamber anything else due to the lack of space for a larger rim.  Compared to my Type II, it feels lighter in the hand ironically even with the 7.5" bbl compared to the R II with a 5.5".  Even with those silly sights, it outshoots my FA M97 in 44 spec that cost over four times as much.  That usually ticks me off.

Major 2

I recall in mid 2006 or just a while before, when Cimarron announced the introduction, I think I first saw it in a Gun of The Old West cover story Adler wrote.
I lusted for one, placed my order and was told 60 days wait, that came and went and I was told just 60 more days , that too came and went, at the 2007 Shot Show (Orlando) Charlie Hanson showed be the only one they had, I could not buy it, but he said the guns should have arrived by the time he got home... NOPE ! just 60 more days I was told !
Well, I had by 2008 , found and bought a custom Kenny Howell Type 1 I was ecstatic,  :D
Never did hear from Cimarron about my order, Oh guns arrived that were allocated to retail dealers who had ordered batches of them for resale.
But my little 2 year wait, standard blued , one gun order @ Cimarron went hunting  :(

By 2009 the lust was still with me... and I aquired a custom Nickle & faux Ivroy Type II in 44 Colt ( all it will chamber ) it has been my main match gun ever since.

Perhap you'd be better off contacting Ultonia , or Buffalo Enterprise the big order retail guys seem to get them first from Cimarron.

when planets align...do the deal !

These are in stock at Dixie Gun Works.

Well, hey Black River Smith, there you go!  The Type II has been a Cimarron exclusive since its intro, but perhaps that has expired now that Dixie has it.  There might be more visible proof marks on the gun from Dixie but otherwise, same gun.

I already have money down at a local shop, on a 'Cimarron direct', via a large distributor.

I will pass on the Dixie one.

Thanks anyway.

Graveyard Jack

Dixie has had them for a few years now. Maybe this year I'll finally pick up that 5½" I've been wanting.

It's the same gun. You've been waiting for nearly 8 months and you're gonna pass on one you could have in three days because you paid a deposit at the local shop? Alrighty then.  ::)

I bought two new Uberti's from DGW last year and they have spectacular case colors.

Here's my early Cimarron Type II next to the 1851 Richards-Mason I bought from DGW last year.

And the flat-top target .44WCF.
