I finally got out to the range and got to shoot a monthly match at the Rock River Regulators facility.  Shooting a brace of 1860 open tops with Kirst Konverter cylinders, a Win. 73 and a 16ga Win. 97.  Loaded Cowboy 45 Special with J/P 45-200s and a compressed charge of FFFg black powder for the 60s.  45 Colt with same bullet and a compressed powder charge for my 73 and a good load of 1oz reclaimed shot for my 16gs.

Took my time and shot the match clean.  Wow!  My opener and clean match!  What next?  Speed?  I don't think so. . . . .

Congrats. I cannot count the number of matches I have shot and had but ONE MISS! It's even worse when a cap or primer fails to ignite and that's the miss. What's even worse than that are the two times I had my only miss on the last stage of two different two day annual matches. Right over the top of the pistol targets

Since I have 14+ guns, I've been called the Imelda Marcos of Cap&Ball. Now, that's a COMPLIMENT!

Realizing that this may cause some people to envy me, but I am retired and have a Cowboy Action practice range right in behind my house and the Darby Rough Regulators ten stage range in what is essentially my back yard. So, I never stopped shooting.

I do have a very large back yard in case you might ask.

This weekend on this range the Texas State Rifle Association will hold their Cowboy Action State Championship Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Central Texas shooters check the Darby Rough Regulators web site or the Texas State Rifle Association for information. (Shameless plug)

Coffinmaker

I think after Bunk has admitted to having TWO, yes that's 2,  Dos, several SASS ranges right out his back door, to allow him to shoot whenever he wants, he should be required to rinse his mouth out with Chocolate.  Or some such.  Or go to bed without desert.  No ice cream for two days.  Humpff!!

Bunk

No Coffinmaker
I am going to bed with a home grown sirloin steak (hot pink center) baked potato with trimmings and washed down with a bottle of very cold "hoppy" ale and I am not ashamed to say that. And I know how lucky I am. And even though there are 4 gallons (more or less) of Blue Bell Ice Cream in the freezer I am too full of steak for anything else tonijuhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhght.

The Bristol Plains Pistoleros had their first match of the season this past weekend. Mother Nature cooperated and the weather was beautiful.

I'm practicing to shoot in the  NCOWS Nationals "Originals" class next month so I shot duelist black powder on Saturday and had four misses. On Sunday I shot two-handed smokeless and was clean. I ain't very fast but I had a good time. It was much more fun shooting Black Powder.
