Hi,
I'm new here and am doing research for a book. I am trying to find out the costs of specific supplies in 1867. My apologies if I have posted this in the wrong section. I am looking for prices for:

Pick Axe
Bucket
Canteen
Mining Pan
Cradle
Axe
Rope

Thank you in advance

Grinnin Jim

That would be interesting to find out!

Go to your local Public Library and look for reprint dry goods and mail order catalogs - they'll price everything.

Normally, the Rope was free.  Most always someone brought one to have on hand when you were drug out from your hidey place   8)

I am actually writing a book on the subject as well.  It comes from over 25 years of archival work, and outdoor field experience as a primitive outdoorsman, living historian, and gold prospector. I recommend getting University archival login.  This will give you access to diaries, publications, documents and other ephemera you won't find on google.

You have your work cut out for you but it will be rewarding. I look forward to seeing how it turns out.

I'm sure the mail-order catalog prices were much lower than your nearest general store, same as today with Amazon undercutting Walmart.
