If you were inside it when the power went out you can pull the release and open it by hand.

If it weren't a slant wall building it would be pretty easy to put a door in. As it is, I think it would be more work than it would be worth.

I built this 'eyebrow' (thats what they're called) to protect my shop doors last year. I had my Home Depot barn painted and found bad wood in the doors. I also built the lower deck. Turned out nice. But I wish it was bigger.
And I was referring to you being locked OUT of the garage, not in and had to bug out.
