I ordered it a year ago and it came in from Italy. Once they took the photo yesterday they shipped it to my LGS today, I'll have it by the end of week.

I wanted something special and I got it!

More later once in my hands...

Charcoal Blue will wear out very quickly and have an awesome patina to the Revolver.

Oh man that's really very nice of you...honest!

If you use the gun a lot, the backstrap will lose it's charcoal blue quickly, but the rest of the gun might hold up better than you think!  I've been shooting my engraved charcoal blue Navy conversions for years and they show only moderate wear, but then they have the brass gripframe so no high wear area.

That is a gorgeous sixgun. I've always thought the Open Tops were Colt's most elegant revolvers. I hope you enjoy it!

Thats a beauty! Say how does one go about ordering straight out of italy?

LonesomePigeon

Yes, how did you order it and how did you select the engraving pattern? That is quite a nice firearm.

I called Cimarron Firearms to find out the process, then went to my gun dealer and made the deposit Cimarron wanted and told the dealer what the model # was so we all were on the same page. They told me the wait period was over a year. As far as the pattern, Uberti is going to have what the hand engravers will do, so no real input from me was requested. They have far more expereince as to what looks good on the Open Top.

The funny part is, I asked if it takes over a year to get one made, do they ever have a customer die before getting their revolver... They said yes, it happens.

So I was very careful not to slip in the bathtub.

Much as I admire and DROOL over that Open Top, doing that to My Open Top would be some kind of expensive.  My Open Tops are set up with ALL three of the available cartridges.  I have barrels and cylinders for 38, 44 & 45.  That ... is a lot of engraving.  Sure would be nice though.

Probably would run about $4000-$5000, but the end result would be a value closer to $8000-$10,000 or even more for the a pair of them. Even thought you can spend $2300 up front for a single Uberti  full hand engraved one, add the year long wait and the value then jumps quite a bit. I wonder though... If you managed that, it certainly would be a one of a kind pair worth a LOT of money.
