No idea, was scrap from a gunstock company in Oregon.  Just said that it was grown in Northern California,  got several kinds, figger more than one source.  One chunk was Royal Walnut, cross between Eastern Black and English, not grow for nuts, likely came out of someone's back yard.

Off to work in a bit, need to stop at ACE and get some boiled linseed oil and turpintine. 

Got several to that stage, love bringing out the beauty of walnut.

52 degrees and windy, with rain on the way.

Still no word from the shop on my truck.  Makes things inconvenient. 

A friend of mine was out plowing a road in the South part of the county today and came across one of our elk herds.  Last time I counted it was at 50 head, two years ago.  He counted today and reached 80 before they were spooked by a helicopter and bolted into the trees.

Just killed and destroyed the human consuming bush along the driveway. This year it will consume none of my  or wifes flesh when we mow.  Pruners will stay sharp.  Chain and jeep was able to get the main stump. Spray will keep the suckers from sprouting.  Ding dong that witch is dead.

I do battle with many similar vegetative invaders every year. They not only consume humans, but tires also! Chain saw, heavy leather gloves, and stump killer are the weapons. I almost always win the battles, but the war is still in question....

PE i know the fight. Last year i was down on the count. This year i started earlier.  I missed the pruning (apple and blue berries) window with the flu. But a year won't be bad for them


Yet the wysteria had to go.

Roo, my fruit trees and blueberries were just planted last year, I did prune the fruit trees a little, to get rid of the low branches they were trying to grow. Not sure if I need to do anything to the blueberries yet, though.

Black Locust is a very good material  for fence post or anything you want to last. I used one for a mailbox post when we first moved into my house ion 1972 and it lasted into the 90's until a snowplow took it out.

I deal with Tree of Heaven.  No thorns, but will out grow any other tree, seeds like a piss elm, suckers like a locust.  Will grow 3-4 feet the first year.

Grandpa told me the weren't a real tree but the world's tallest weed.
