Morning All!!
The Div of Illinois Muster will be held on 29 July 2018 at Dry Gulch Ranch near Winnebago, Illinois.  The 2x4, precision rifle, precision pistol and other atrocities will be observed.  Lunch on site.  Will be engaging Philippine Moros.

The Department of Missouri Muster will be held at the Tri County Gun Club on 8 Sep 2018 near Polo, Illinois.  More or less the same as Div Illinois, but with a few twists.  Lunch on site.

60 rounds rifle and 35 pistol should be sufficient for each muster.  45/70s are welcome, but ease up on the fps...

Key West was so nice this month!!!

More info; the Dept of Missouri Muster will re-locate to Dry Gulch Ranch (same place as Div IL).  Date to remain 8 Sep.

Hmmmm......a muster I could actually make! :o

What are the laws in IL regarding out of staters bringing in handguns?

The USCCA usually does a really good job of outlining all the pertinent laws for traveling with firearms. The basics are; unload it, take it apart, lock it in a hard container in a locked part of your vehicle that is inaccessible from the passenger compartment sperate from ammunition. Install trigger and barrels locks if possible

Doesn't IL have a Firearms Identification Owners card?

Hey, it could be worse.  I've attended a match or two in the Peoples Republic of New York over the years and they've had this law on the books forever.

Applicable NYS Law - NY Penal Code 265.20(13) which states:
"Possession of pistols and revolvers by a person who is a nonresident of this state [is permitted] while attending or traveling to or from, an organized competitive pistol match or league competition under auspices of, or approved by, the National Rifle Association and in which he is a competitor, within forty-eight hours of such event or by a person who is a non-resident of the state while attending or traveling to or from an organized match sanctioned by the International Handgun Metallic Silhouette Association and in which he is a competitor, within forty-eight hours of such event, provided that he has not been previously convicted of a felony or a crime which, if committed in New York, would constitute a felony, and further provided that the pistols or revolvers are transported unloaded in a locked opaque container together with a copy of the match program, match schedule or match registration card. Such documentation shall constitute prima facie evidence of exemption, providing that such person also has in his possession a pistol license or firearms registration card issued in accordance with the laws of his place of residence."

Yes, but as I understand it, it only applies to residents.

HI

I was a Scheel's in Springfield a few years back.  I wasn't allowed to touch the ammunition at the store.  No buying without a FOID.  They mainly wanted the money for the card back in the day.

FOID Card only applies to us in the Democratic People's Republic of Illinois.  Out of state residents can come and shoot long arms, at least for the moment.  Pistol requirements were outlined above.

Hi, does anybody have any experience with how LE looks at the common SUV?  Yes, I'm in the drivers seat, even if I put the pistol in a locked case in the back, its still IN the passenger compartment.  I guess I could put a zip tie on the hammer too, but it's still in the passenger compartment with me.  At work, can't look at USCCA here, I'll look when I get home.

Thanks

I know nothing but have a thought, would carrying the a handgun unloaded in the spare tire compartment in a SUV be analogous to in the trunk given one must exit the vehicle open the rear hatch and then lift the spare tire cover.  Certainly the handgun is not accessible from the passenger compartment.  Laws being laws need not make sense unfortunately.  I generally revere law enforcement personnel and have never had an negative encounter but humans being human, if you give a jerk a badge and a gun you end up with a jerk carrying a badge and a gun.

NY and IL travelers beware as I thing the preponderance of jerks in those jurisdictions is higher than in the rocky mountain west.

For out of staters wanting to attend a muster in Illinois, here goes.  For whatever you drive, one must case an unloaded firearm and firearms are to separated from the ammo.  Simply guns in cases and ammo in boxes.  You drive an SUV, put your stuff in the rear.  And stay away from chicago..
