Ol Gabe

Heard recently that KIK, in the newer batches, is every bit as good as or better in performance than SWISS. Anyone have any experience with it in 45-70 load applications for Long Range shooting, as in up to 1,000 yards?
Interested in any and all comments or advice.
Best regards and good shooting!

Donno where ya heard that, but it ain't been my experiance by a long shot! This new KIK is huge improvement over the older stuff, but it AIN'T in the same league with Swiss!

I've shot both in my 45-70 roller and Swiss cuts my groups more than 50% in comparision with KIK. KIK is a fair ta middlin powder and far and away more than what one needs fer main match ammo. It's even satisfactory for hutning loads fer deer put to 200yards, but it ain't no 1000 yard powder! I use it and I'll keep using it because it's the best buy out there for CAS main matches...but I'll stick with Swiss or Schutzen for long range stuff.

From batch to batch there's probably always a chance any of the other 'real' gunpowders could change their quality positions. Swiss, however is in a class by itself.

Gabe, have ya tried Graf Brothers powder.  It's made in Germany, I think by Wano, it looks pretty, has that polished look like Swiss.
I don't do long range, so I can't tell from personal experiance, but it shoots good in my C&Bs.
