When I was aound ten years old I had a Hopalong Cassidy two gun rig. As best I can remember the holsters and belt were of a molded plastic construction. The Pistols were made out of Pot metal and used rolls of caps.

I don't remember the holster ar all but I had a metal six shooter that used Greeny Stickum Caps that you stuck on the end of a pot metal cartridge that a brass looking case slid over the end of. Looked like a real bullet. You loaded them just like a saa would load and fired away at those pesky banditos. The revolver was pretty realistic. They also had a levergun that used the same 'ammo'. A neat toy. I wish I still had it.

Wow, I had a Roy Rogers rig. It had buckskin fringe gloves with conchos on em, too.

Buckle Guns,  Mattel made them ,  They made the "Spitt'n' Image carbine , Fanner Fifty & the Shoot'n' Shell revolvers Ed speaks of...
Greenie Stick'um Caps were their patent as well...
There also a Roll'n' Block (Remington) single shot carbine...
This was the Golden age in toy guns , NICHOLS ,Hubley & Marx were major players too a that time.

In that era , No orange muzzle tips .... Good Lord , a kid could go around well heeled , walk into a corner Mom & Pop store without a second thought or raised eyebrow.

Those guns, command , BIG money to collectors today...Note the $8.00 on the original box set .... about $250 today.

As to Leather quality the best I recall was, my Paladin Rig.  A single rig in good sewn top grain leather, and a Knight chess piece in chrome plated metal.

I fondly remember, I had a Fanner 50, 2 of the Shoot'n' 6's  & 1 each of the Spit'n Image 94 & the Rolling Block Mattel ,
I had the Buckle , and wore it many times to Elementary School 
My favorite was my Hubbly  45 ( also shot it's version of shooting shell )
I 'm sure it instilled in me my passion for the 1860 Army & Conversions .

That Hubley Colt is way cool. Never had one, darn it.
In my teens I came across plastic kits of guns. I got the whole series. There was a deringer, a miquelet and quite a few others. I came across this kit of the Peacemaker online. Selling for - wait for it - $150. Phew.
