Video is up now.  I hope I've made up for long-windedness with closeup views in this one.

Keep in mind that some of us here spend hours reading books like "Cartridges of the World" or firearms technical manuals. My family laughs at my capacity for stuff like that.  I'm looking forward to your video later today.

I watched your excellent video and I'll point out that I didn't fast forward through any of it.  Thanks for putting in the work involved. I appreciate it.

I've been studying up on the Winchester 1895 for a purchase I'm making. Did you know that the original '95s used a roller bearing/main spring system similar to your new 1866?

Was waiting for the flambeau.  The flash and "Gawoosh" as it twer.  No Gawoosh.  No great flash of flambeau.  Hughe disappointment.

The rifle part was great though.  What "Rollerbearing Main Spring??"  What did I miss??

He did a supplemental video showing that the Miroku 1866 doesn't use the stirrup on the hammer to interact with the mainspring, but uses a roller bearing like a Colt revolver (or a Winchester 1895).

I finally did make it to the range with this one.  Another long video with a long-winded host whom you'll probably be wishing would just shut up and shoot already, but there IS quite a bit of shooting in this one overall.

I enjoyed both you vids.  What caught my eye the most was the fitting of the links compared to the Miroku 73.  The 66 setup just looks superior.  That begs the question, can the links of the 66 fit the 73?  I would think that for manufacturing simplicity alone, Miroku would make a link that would fit both.  That may be wishful thnking.  Any chance that the next time you have the side panels off, you could try to see if the length, hole diameters, hole placement were the same or not?  Thanks

I'll try just that and let you know.  I cleaned both rifles at the range that day, but all I did to the internals was spray some moosemilk down through the firing pin hole in the front of the bolt to neutralize any of that primer leakage, and I haven't had a chance to tear the rifles down yet for a thorough cleaning.  I will swap the links out then and post about it here.  Thanks.

You mean there are other people who don't spend hour reading Cartridges of the Worlsd or McDowell's book on conversions???? Wow, that's odd! ;D ;D
