Picked up my latest acquisition, 1894 Marlin in 38/40, sn puts it at 1903. Neat Old Gun. It was refinished, rifling exceptional. Couldn't have been shot much, action is almost as stiff as a current maft Marlin.

Cool.  38-40 is my favorite.

Congratulations on a nice find! The 38-40 is my favorite as well. Might want to check barrel dimensions before loading up a batch of ammo as the older Marlins in this caliber can run slightly generous. A couple of acquaintances from the past had best luck with soft lead sized .403 instead of the current .401
