Mathew 5.9

Sagebrush Burns

The battle is widely considered to be one of the meanest small unit fights in the history of the US Army.  Initially not much more than a platoon of 82nd Airborne troopers held off something like a regiment of German infantry and tanks.  As the battle progressed a battalion of glider troops crossed a 600 yard raised causeway with no cover whatsoever under intense German fire and secured the enemy held side.  The title of the film comes from the initial US commander when some of the troops considered retreat:  "I don't know a better place to die."
