Well, I'm lurking around here, looking one direction at my '76 on the wall, then turning the other way at the rain hitting the window.   :'(

In the meantime, I'm hoping someone will write about their adventures here so that I can live vicariously.

"Lubers"?  No, but I do use their sizing dies if I need to size bullets.  Since I pan-lube my bullets and I'm generally not in a hurry, they work fine for me.

Been watching hunters shoot deer turkey and hog the last couple wks. Have not pulled a trigger on animals myself yet. Sat down at the pasture bench yesterday and pulled the trigger on four different 76 caliber rifles. Shot all four 10 shots each at 100yd. The 40/60 with the 22" oct. barrel. is a tack driver , and mild . The 28" round barrel 45/60 shoots really good and is one of my earliest 76 rifles. The 28" 45/75 oct. barrel is a blast to shoot and is a tack driver. I have taken game with it at just under 200 yds. Kills like a sledge hammer . The 24" Half round Express rifle in 50/95  , truley  a BLAST , great hunting rifle . Will test its killing ability very soon. Like em all , but must say Winchester got it right the first time with the 45/75wcf . Its the King in my book. The one i grab if i'm serious about getting it done .,,,DT

How about a few photos on the 50-95 and the 40-60 they sound really nice! Are they originals or something else? Happy New Year to all!  ;D

Blackpowder Burn

Best of luck to everyone Dusty!

Is anyone else using a '76 for the family hunt?  Would be neat if they all did!  ;D

I took my first deer with a BP 45-70 load a few weeks ago.  Just a Marlin '95 cowboy, but still effective.  I never realized how much destruction a soft lead flatnose bullet would do - really eye opening.

Thanks for the Luck wishes . Was a great time . Keeping up with the Grandkids was a test of strength , the young ones have a lot of energy . They range from 7. 9 .10  and 12 in age . So far they just watch me shoot the 76 rifles and wont shoot them . Their favorite is the 50/95 they call Old Smokey ! Our 9 yr. old Grandson Braxton Reece , got his first deer this hunt . A pretty 6 pt . Wt. he chose to hunt with a  30-30 94 Winchester  carbine now his , was my Dad's his Great Grandfather's carbine .His big brother age 12 let a chance at what would have been his best to date buck go , so his little brother could get a shot at the 6 pt. A good show of sportsmanship. Was great to see all of the little ones congratulate Braxton. on his deer .  Big night around the campfire. I have a new laptop and need to figure out the picture posting deal again , sorry for no pics. Need a couple days of rest , them little one wore me out ! ,,,DT
