I tried my hand at a little more advanced gunsmithing this weekend.  I now have a 3 1/4" barrel to go with my 6 1/2" barrel on my Pietta/ Kirst 1860.  I built my confidence by watching Mike Beliveau's video on cutting down a Remington RMA.  I guess Coffinmaker will be proud or tell me that is still too long.

EDIT:  Nevermind I'll have to work on posting pictures later...
See below:

AWRIGHT TORNADO!!   ;D

In all Truth, I have settled on 3 1/4 inches as my favorite barrel length for my Snubbies.  Many will ask "Why 3 1/4."  BECAUSE!!

Now for a Front Sight!!

Is that how you make your clients fit your 'one size fits all' coffins? Start at the feet and adjust as needed? Just slide on his boots, tuck in the pants and he's ready to lay out in the parlor. Genius.

Here is a test fit.

Looks good, how did you do your front sight? Hand cut dovetail? I've hand cut dovetails on octogon ml bbls but that's easy with the flats to eyeball measure by but it's a lot harder with a rd bbl.

My first few stroke with my large file had a small magnetic level on it.  When sighting down the barrel it looks pretty good, not perfect, but good enough for across the card table accuracy.

Baltimore Ed

Good thinking, hadn't thought about using a magnetic level. I like smart people.

Balto Ed,

Folks seem to be confused.  I keep hearing "I didn't think he was that short."  I just smile.

don't look like Photobucket stole them(at least not this time)

The photos are showing up on the two devices I tried.  ???  I used a new Google Photo hoster since photobucket seems to have lost their way.  Here is one from Photobucket to see if that works.  If that dosen't work then I will just invite anyone who wants to see it to come over to my house next weekend.  Stupid technology. ::)

Coffinmaker

Well, your "little" photo looks a quality job but Photo Bucket don't like you at all.  :P

Coffinmaker

PS:  If it's any consequence, I don't like Photo Bucket either  ::)

PSS:  Where do you live??

Now I can't see them!

I could see the original photos shortly after you posted them (using a desktop computer), but now they're gone.  Hmmm...

I could see them too and then they were gone??? Where'd they go??  Russien hackers I bet. They hacked our falling sg targets last month, they wouldn't fall down.

Coffinmaker

OH NO MR. BILL!!

Your SG targets TOO!!  The Russians got our SG targets last month as well.  They stood proud.  I hit one 6 times.  It just laughed at me.

After the stage was complete, I went down range and kicked the durn thing over.

PS:  Still nothing but that one little picture.

Baltimore Ed

I got so frustrated that I threw a sg shell at the darn thing. Everyone got a big chuckle out of my extreme 12 gauge difficulties. Cowboys can be so cruel. I'm not surprised a lick that they stick red hot branding irons on poor defenseless Elsies and then eat em for good measure.
