Found a box of 44`s I loaded years ago using a 250 grain bullet but I`m not sure about the charge but it was definitely  hotter than the others.
So this shows it didn`t like the lighter load as well.

Hope you guys aren't mad at me because I bitched about talking about Munden.

Yeah, that last group is definitely better.  Before I got into CAS I was working up loads with mostly 240gr SWC and RNFP (I don't cast), and I never got what I thought was a particularly accurate load, but "good enough for CAS" and all my shooting time now is spent at matches, no "practice" or working up loads (mostly 180gr and 200gr now for less recoil).  That's okay with me.

I don't think anyone is mad.  Some folks is just kinda opinionated  :)

I personally don't think a 3rd Gen Colt, especially one that is not a .45, will be particularly collectible for a long time.  Most prospective buyers will be shooters, and an action job by someone they've heard of probably won't detract from the value even if it doesn't add to it, either.

Cry Eyed Peet NO!!

Won't anyone be annoyed cause you brought up Bob Munden.  Like Abilene pointed out, some of us are some opinionated.  Nobody was
T'ing off on you personally.  And, as I tried to say a page back, I should have stuck to your original question and not hopped up on my Soap Box.  Sorry about that.

Anyway.  I have found that age is not your friend when trying to do things the way we did em 30 years ago.  Getting old ain't for sissies.  It is also really frustrating.  Having this 30 year old mind trapped in this really old and beat up body is a real nuisance.  Although I am right happy to still be here.

I explained why I said what I said, wasn`t whining about it just trying to be polite.
Going to keep trying to perfect a load for the Colt so stay tuned.  :)

Well Abilene I wouldn`t of believed it  :o I painted the right lense black on a old pair of reading glasses and drilled a 1/16th hole in it and I could see the sights and the target clear ass day--amazing.  :)
Still didn`t better my 2 inch group though.

Cool!  Now you've taken eyes out of the equation in finding that load.

ok
its time for me to weigh too, being in Montana as i am, "ol Bob Munden" is/was sorta of a icon. mention his name around here and everyone has something to say, good, bad or indifferent. can't take away the fact that as a pistolero he could out shoot most.

THREAD DRIFT ALARM ....... THREAD DRIFT ALARM ........ THREAD DRIFT ALARM

We .... Collectively .... have managed to drift Pitchy's thread clear into the next county.

I vote we all quit Munden bashing and just concentrate on helping Pitchy to get his gun shooting!!   ;D

Had fun today, couple pards came over and shot a few rounds.
Used the shootin glasses with the small hole in them and tightened up the groups some what.  :)
Shot some 45`s in the 1860 using Trail boss powder, I think I like that powder and going to load up some 44 spl. with it.

A load using trail boss with a 250 grain Lead flat point bullet would be appreciated.
Looking for a mild load.  :)

Hodgdon lists a .44 spcl trailboss load with a 240gr bullet.  4.0 to 5.2gr, 673 to 763fps.

Thanks Abilene, that should work, I have a lead bullet that weighs in at 231 grains so 4.5- 5.0 should work.
