I have a Janssen Fils & Co. Liege 12 bore.  It opens just enough to remove the spend cases, if you keep pressure applied to the barrels...a lot of pressure!  How can I improve the ease of opening the shotgun, and hopefully, increase the swing so that it hangs open enough to dump the shells without forcing the barrels down?

These are supposed to be tight - they're hunting weapons, not toys for an imaginary sport.

Find a different piece.

I had a nice conversation with Coffinmaker and he gave me some good advice.  I found that the action was pinched a bit at the hinge making the right hand cocking rod jam in the steel mortise.  Once I had a few thou polished off, and the gun reassembled, it works perfectly now (again)  It's a miracle I could cock the gun at all...the cocking rod was jammed tight in the action and had to be drifted out to work on it, while the left side floated freely in its mortise.  Never say die on these great guns.  And thanks publicly to CC for his encouragement.
