The 7th Annual Wagons for Warriors event is Memorial Day weekend in Lebanon, Missouri.  It's the largest gathering of chuckwagons around.  32 wagon's are attending this year.  The wagons will be on display and cooking for the ticket holders, Saturday, May 27th.   Western Movie/TV star and Artist, Buck Taylor will be attending both Friday and Saturday.   Our wagon crew consists of retired Law Dawgs.  2 of us are Texas Troopers, 1 is a Kansas Trooper and 3 are City Officers from Delaware.   We made a special bottom rocker for our wagon sign to honor Buck Taylor's line in Tombstone.   "Law And Order Every Time That's Us"

Oh man, I want to go!  Unfortunately,  I'm over 2000 miles away. I met Buck once (I call him "Buck" like we're friends) and I'd love to chat with him again. I'd buy a sketch and get him to sign it with his "law and order" line.  I'd better stop thinking about what I'm missing, but thanks for letting me do a little dreaming...

I brought the chuckwagon to one of his art events in Desoto, Texas a few years ago.  He signed a print with his Law & Order line.  He's a very nice guy.  I'll post a few photos of the W4W event.  It's a shame you're so far away.

ME too...want to go.... sadly distance is the bugaboo...

I worked on location with "Buck" several times ,  Alamo 13 days to Glory , Gettysburg , Rough Riders, Gods & Generals & Comanche Moon....

It was actually "Houston the legend of Texas"  I was on,  while his 13 Days of Glory was filming both were sharing my
Alamo the Price of Freedom set.  The two film companies kinda co-mingled a day or two till "Houston" moved to its next location at Mud Creek.

when planets align...do the deal !

Thanks!  We're stocked pretty well.   One bottle is for our wagon, one for a North Carolina wagon and one for a Missouri wagon.  They requested Lone Star longnecks too.  I feel like a bootlegger :)

It looks like one bottle has been sampled.  Just to make sure that it's genuine, I suppose... ;D

Good eye!   It required quality control inspection prior to crossing state lines :)

I' would like to have taken my wagon up there and cooked but all my help has left me.Family  and kids take up all their time.
Probably just ought to sell it.

The event is always Memorial Day weekend.  Some wagons start showing up as early as Thursday.   The fellowship between the wagon crews is why folk come early.

You should put a crew together and come next year.  There's always plenty of help for unloading and reloading.   Visit the Wagons for Warriors facebook page.  It's full of photos and information.  Last I heard, 32 wagons will be at this years event.

Darn, I'm only a half hour away, but still will be working 6 days a week until at least the second weekend of June.

That's a shame!  A lot of the wagon's will be setting up all day Friday.  Even though the cooking event is Saturday, many people stop by Friday to look at the wagons and visit with the wagon crews.  Come after you get off work and visit.  We'll at least have coffee on the fire.

Well, I just came home after work. The way the weather was, it was probably a lot like the scene in "Open Range" where they're sitting beside the chuck wagon trying to stay dry under an itty bitty tarp.

As soon as the event ended, all hell broke out.  Tornado sirens were going off.  We just finished loading the wagon on the trailer before the high winds and driving rain hit us.   Everyone ran for shelter.  During the storm, our cowboy teepee was knocked down.  That was the only damage we sustained.  One broken wood pole wasn't bad at all.
