Folks,  I just blew my discretionary money on a Finnish M39, else I'd seriously consider one of these.  The price seems aligned with current marketing, at least in the St Louis Cabela's, and on Gunbroker.

FWIW, I've bought several handguns and rifles through Classic, and always had a good experience/results.

Says they're out of stock.  Glad I've already got one.  Great rifles!

Drydock

No, they go on sale tomorrow at noon.  It will say "Out of Stock" until then.

Cool!  I didn't see a price.  What are they selling for?

I think he says it somewhere in the video. $499.99 for the good cracked rifles, with an extra $30 added on for the good non-cracked.

I'd love to get one, but new house has to come first. C'est la vie.

Glad I got one when they were $125 (or less still in cosmolene) ;D

They got Mosin Nagants in very good condition for $500 shipped! Sign me up! :D

To you fanciers of the .303 I have a Savage mk 4 complete with a savage bayonet and a Winchester P14 that I could be talked out of. Both are in full military configuration and in very good + condition.

Jake C

So was anyone able to get any of these? If so, give us arrange report when you can. Let me live vicariously through you.

I noticed. I went to check out the website again around 2 PM yesterday and they were all gone. Which is s shame for me, but I'm happy for the 50 or so folks who were able to get one. I was just curious if anyone on this board had been able to grab one.

The rumor is these were all purchased from Springfield Sporters and every last one of them are DP. Meaning they are Drill Purpose only and could be dangerous to shoot.

Not being an Enfield guy, were these the shorter WWII version?

These would have been the ww1 SMLE.  The ww2 version is the No 4 mk 1.

Talked to a few purchasers on various gunboards.  They carried Century Intl tags, and were NOT drill rifles.  Not sure how that got started.

Joe: As Drydock said, the standard WWII rifle was the No.4 Mk2, but its actually about the same length as the No.1. The shorter version was the No.5 "Jungle Carbine". Also, the Aussies continued making No.1 rifles through WWII, and both models were used throughout the war.

Yeah, my 'Smelly' is a Lithgow '42, even got an Aussie marked bayonet to go with it.  ;D Brother-in-law has a few WWI SMLE. can't really tell the difference shooting.

Drydock

Yeah, I've got a no 4 and a no 5.  As great as the SMLE is, my middle age eyes really like the aperture sights on these!

Heck, No 1 mk III SMLE's were made by the Indians clear up to the 1960s, with the last ones being made with upgraded steel and chambered in 7.62 Nato.  My son has one of those.  (one of his requirements for his little collection is that it is either in 7.62x51, or 7.62x54r.  Smart Kid really.)

I don't remember where I read it now, but back when I was doing Enfield research on my SMLE, it was pointed out there was nothing wrong with most of the Drill Purpose (DP) Enfields when they were pulled from stocks.  (Just like the M1's our government butchered in to drill rifles.  Most of those I saw were new and unfired when THAT happened.  Grrrr....)  I would definitely look them over very carefully and check them for head space before I'd shoot them, though.  Of course, I'd recommend that with just about ALL the rifles we use...........
