I just learned about Illinois SB1657 today and thought I would pass this information along in case the news has been kept from residents of the state by our wonderfully informative media outlets.  I hope you guys are already fighting this but if not you may want to get after it.

Apparently it's already been approved by the Illinois state senate and is in committee in the house.

"The bill would turn gun shops into a state licensed business, similar to a liquor store or yellow cab. You would have to get permission to open a gun shop and the gun shops currently open would be subject to approval of a potentially corrupt panel to even stay open."
