Just won these on Gunbroker today.  Listing was for "Uberti stainless engraved black powder revolver "
Of course the only engraving was the roll engraved naval battle scene on the cylinder. They were imported by Allen Firearms of Santa Fe, NM and are two more in my search for these rare Uberti Stainless Colt's. Total known & documented is now up to 31.

That is wonderful.  I wish Uberti would run off a new batch of stainless guns.  Sure would make nice shooters.

I was bidding on GunBroker for two Colt Blackpowder stainless 1860 Armies. Neither had a box. Both went in the high $800's.  There is one with the box and all papers, buy it now price is $1500.  These stainless guns are suddenly coming out of the woodwork.

$1500 is way too high.  Blue Book says $950 for one in 100% condition.  The two that went in the 800s were probably priced right.

The SS Colts seem to pop up in waves.

Ah ......... Wait just a moment there Perfesser!!  :o

I just happen to like MY Capt. Schaeffer Replica(s) (I have a pair).  I admit, the barrel(s) are a half inch too long, and the engraving is laser as opposed to real hand cut and the stocks are faux (fake) ivory rather than pearl or something and there is no Silver cap on the bottom of the butt, but, other than that, they are really really NICE guns.

I think I would be somewhat hesitant (wanna bet??) to chop and channel a "hard to come by" pair of stainless Uberti guns (I don't like Ubertis), the overall cost of building an accurate replica of the Schaeffer gun would be a mite cost prohibitive.  The engraving alone would cost as much if not more than the WHOLE gun!!  Not that it wouldn't be a fun project.  Simply going to EMF (I did) and acquiring an "almost" is/was just fine.  My first pair of Capt. Schaeffer replicas (I built em myselfish) were built out of a pair of Pietta Marshal guns, which were never never .44 Navies.  That weren't so cheap either.

Other than that, Finger's navies have some very real possibilities.  Causes my Hacksaw hand to start itching ....... fwoopa, fwoopa, fwoopa

For the time being, they are going to have American Holly grips installed, get tuned up, then shot a bunch.

And, you can tell your hacksaw to go fwoopa somewhere else  :D
