 ;D  Well, I went and picked up my second 1872 Open Top, a 7.5" .45 Colt/Schofield to go with my 4.75" one in the same caliber.  Add my 1860 Thunderer 3" with the R&D cylinder as my back up match pistol, and my 1849 Wells Fargo .31 caliber with the .32 S&W R&D cylinder, and I am COMPLETE!!!!! ::)

I love the "pointability" of the 1860ish Colts, and the 1849 is actually a revolver you can hold.  The 1863 Remmie with the .32 S&W R&D cylinder was just too darn small, and hard to hold. Now I am ready for the annual High Sierra Shootout at Railroad Flat later this month.

Now you will come to understand, the OT family is truly the universal convertible ....

same frame...can net you multiple calibers , barrel lengths ...all the wonderful variations and that's just the 1872 Open Tops.

Which then brings us to where they began....

the....
* Thuer Conversion
  * 1860 Long Cylinders
   * Richards  Type I
    * Richards Type II Transition
    * Richards & Mason

Yes sir as the song goes " you've only just begun "

You merely have a quad... the true family awaits your journey to the DARK Side ....  :-*

Yes , and even then, I found the cousins in the 51 Richards & Mason.

Ah yes Padawan.  You only "think" you have completed your journey.  The most difficult part of any journey is .. "The First Step."

You now have the ultimate SA Convertible available to those who dare.  Once the Barrel to Arbor fit has been fix'd, you may begin.  First, add a .44 Special cylinder and barrel to each.  With your original 45, you will now be able to chamber 45 Colt, 45 Schofield and Cowboy 45 Special.  With the added 44 Special cylinder and barrel .. 44 Special, 44 Colt and 44 Russian.  An additional set of 44 Special cylinders, rechambered to 44-40 will delight a few.  Last we add the 38 Special cylinder and Barrel with it's family of cartridges.  A single filly tuned action with access to at least 8 different cartridges in a matter of several minutes.  And as an added bonus, three different barrel lengths for each caliber.

"COMPLETE" ????  I think NOT.

 ;D  I have to admit that I considered a big Walker or Whitneyville Dragoon with an R&D to go with the little Thunderer!
