I won't go political, but I do enjoy shooting cast bullets.  In fact, all the way from .222 Rem thru 45-70 Govt, my guns all have cast bullets to shoot.  Yes, I do use jacketed bullets for some high intensity guns (.6.5mm Gibbs) etc, however I do like to be able to shoot cast bullets out of any of my guns.  The only one I've not mastered cast bullets with is the 8mm Rem Mag.  I just can't find an accurate load for that giant case that I can throttle down to cast bullet velocities.

All that said, my Cowboy Action guns all get cast bullets pushed along by black powder.  Just a side note, I just shot 20 rounds of 45-70 cast DD-45-70 500 grain RNSP Big Lube bullets to inside 1.5 moa groups.  Cast bullets and black powder is no slouch.  Casting six at a pour is a real time saver.

On the smaller end, I loaded up and shot some 38-55 rounds with EPP-36 90 grain bullets that fit a single hole at 50 yards.  This is a real rabbit getter.

The point of my original post was that it now looks more like the anti-lead greenie tree hugger socialists won't prevail in their demand that we quit using lead bullets for hunting.  I'd also like to see a return to lead shot for waterfowl hunting.  I have some black powder scatterguns that could make a few more trips to the blind for duck hunting.  Perhaps there is some return to sanity.

You hit it right wildman1. I've noticed that in Communist counties the conservatives are the Ol Soviet style era wannabe's and the liberals are the one's we all root for the freedoms we enjoy in the US for their countries. Here in the USA the meanings and distinctions are different.

I guess Thumbs since you don't live in the US, you may not be aware what 'the liberals' have been trying to do for the last 40 some years, esp the last 20.
I don't like to get off topic from Dicks post about the lifting of the lead gun ban, which is good, but the liberals and people behind that in the first place had nothing but the elimination of all conventional bullets and the implantation of who knows what kind of inefficient projectile and the ultimate ban of ammo and firearms. That's how they work, start little and allow 'the ball' to gather momentum.  They (the libs) (and it can be proven)had an agenda and desire to have America end up as some of the European countries where private gun ownership is banned and/or a PITA to buy and own. Nope Thumbs, you guys can keep your anine gun laws over there, we'll corral our libs here, keeping a leash on em, not letting them get to far.
  Not sure what SchoolBoy is talking about. Think there is some confusion between the troops as to who is saying what and who is on who's side. Maybe it's just me. Not calling anyone names or attempting to cause an argument, don't think anyone else is either. Although it is written, "A tree is known by it's fruit"! Think I'll sit a while, observe and see where this one goes. Guess this political discussion has nothing to do with the actual shooting of blackpowder firearms, it's tied in as far as gun rights, but sometimes things need to be said and clarified.

So, I shoot my bp gun loaded with lead projectiles over the swamp.  I defy the most dedicated environmentalist to show me a single casualty caused by my shooting lead ammo over his precious puddle.  As I poke another charge of black powder followed by a like quantity of lead shot down the muzzle of my fouling piece, I'll smile at him in his frustration.

Fortunately when the independent Republic of Texas decided to upgrade the quality of areas north of Amarillo by joining the United States and. by the way, giving away part of its territory which became New Mexico and Colorado, and which I consider a really bad deal, retained ownership of the public lands within its reduced borders. There a few federally controlled areas which are mostly military reservations  in Texas but most of the public lands (parks) belong to the citizens of Texas.
