   Greetings!

I have received today from Buffalo Arms, two items: first, is a Wadcutter #4440RIFLE,
Hammer-Impact Type for cutting felt/cardboard wads to .430"; the second, is a Four
Section... Cleaning Rod, #WCR04NEW.
The .430" Wadcutter should prove to be handy on several levels, firstly for taking up
space in voluminous cartridge cases, wherein reduced charges of BP are to be utilised
(.44WCF downloaded to .44HRF ballistics, etc.), and maintaining a degree of powder
compression; secondly, for cutting Lubricating Discs of Felt impregnated with a BP Lubri-
cant. Others loading higher-end charges for use in stronger firearms can protect the base
of their lead bullets from the abuses of powder combustion using card wads.
The Four-Sectioned Cleaning Rod, for my purposes, appears to be a reasonable copy
of the Transitional Henry Cleaning Rod, with a nice touch: the 'brass' Cleaning Patch Eye un-
screws allowing the attachment of Standard Thread ( 8-32?) Brushes, etc. While my
actual desire is to get ahold of some time on Dad's lathe and make a set of Wooden
Cleaning Rods, as seen in L. Quick's Henry Rifle Book, the Buffalo Arms Cleaning Rods
will be more than adequate. I see great utility in keeping a Cleaning Rod in its provided
for space, for one never knows when debris will become lodged in the muzzle / bore
while, "out and about", and away from camp. Also, the simple expedient of stuffing a bit
of flannel in the trap will muffle any non-natural sounds during a hunt. Something to
consider.
Wadcutter ( easily made at home, when tools are available ) was $18.00; The Cleaning
Rod Set was $35.00. Dixie Gun Works might have something similar, and if you haven't
ordered a copy of their 2017 Catalogue ( Like the old Sears-Roebuck Catalogue! ), you
are needlessly depriving yourselves!
