Well, it has been a couple years since I dropped out of CAS shooting.  I sold off the guns, and pursued other interest.

Well, I got bit by the bug again, so I bought a pair of Pietta 1858s: One 8" and one 5 1/2".  I also ordered a couple Howell's R&D .45 Colt cylinders for them.  I could have just picked up a couple SAA or 1875s, but since I will be shooting a 45 Colt 1860 Henry, I like being able to either shoot cap and ball or cartridge conversions.  I picked up a NIB Henry for $1060 including shipping.  I remember when the were $500!

I have used the conversion cylinders in 1858s in the past, but I can't remember if Black Hills .45 Schofield brass will work in the R & D cylinders.  No big deal, but I would like to shoot my .44 Henry flat duplicate loads using .45 Schofield, 200 to 230 grain bullets and 27 grains of FFG.

Anyway, I will be actively lurking here again...

Hi guys I'm living back in the Sierras of Northern California. I wish I had the Remmy still. Oh well I actually like the versatility of the C&B and the conversion cylinders.

Swell News.  Good to see ya back Lawman.

Yes, The R & D cylinder will work with the Schofield brass.  Last I knew, Blackhills was loading Starline brass.  Good stuff.

A suggestion I might make though, would be to consider using Cowboy 45 Special Brass.  Would require a minor mod to your Henry and no mod to the conversion cylinders.  Would give your Henry the capacity for 17 rounds.  Just a thought.  It would result in a slightly lighter load.

I actually have a carrier with the set screw modification. I really like duplicating the Henry load though. It takes 14 or 15 with the Schofields.

Woo Woo! Picked up my Henry out of Californication jail (along with my S&W WW2 Victory Model .38 Special).  LOVE it!  Need to brasso off the tarnished "loading gate area" left by the hole in the protective film.

I checked with my 200 Grain .45 Schofield "44 Henry duplication loads" and it holds 14 1/2.  The action functions smoothly, though, even with the short 200 grain .45 Schofield rounds. Trigger seems to be about 4+ pounds, and crisp.  Guess I will have to re-learn how to do the "Henry Hop" with my off hand on the barrel.

can't do the local match this month because I am doing a Sheriff's Search and Rescue fund raiser.  Oh well, maybe I'll hit a match down in the valley.

Glad to hear the rifle is treating you well! How is it handling the BP Schofield rounds, if you don't mind me asking?

UP-date....sold it last weekend.... was pretty much an "orphan safe resident"  I hadn't shot it since 2015....  ???

It needed a new home, wasn't doing me much good just sitting.  :-\

Kinda a spur of the moment thing.... something on my bucket list came up....
I was suffering from "gunfundislowitus " or Madwifeifispendthemoney syndrome.

I began the sad thought process of the search for the "sacrificial lamb" ....  :(

You, I,  everyone knows that "something gotta go....to make the something new feel welcome....not every time but often enough it is still a nerve ending.... :-X

Helps if you can break even....better when you score that  bucket list thingy and make a little jingle  :-\ (that is Rare )
