Looks like our wish has been heard, has Graf's headstamp, so probably from Prvi Partisan. No more waiting until Remington "feels like it"

Quick Fire

I just got done ordering some. Beats the hell out of Gunbroker's prices.

Says made in USA.  Hornaday?  Got a bag on the way myself.
Civilize them with a Krag . . .

USA? Didn't notice that. Maybe on contract from Starline?

It's a miracle! (well almost)  Thanks for the heads up Pony!  Since it's Christmas, should we wish for the carbine reproduction again?

Captec made that brass.

That would explain the high price.

I do hope this doesn't mean the mainstream ammunition manufacturers have given up on the 30 40.  There are still too many Krags in use as hunting rifles for this for this cartridge to go over to the dark side of low volume high cost reproduction brass manufacturers like Jamison.

Bat, it might seem a high price, but I've seen Remington and Winchester bring over $2 a piece for used brass and over $5 for new on Gunbroker.

I have a friend who shoots a 50-140, my son shoots a 45-110 and I shoot a 351WSL.  I do understand that .86 a round for 30-40 is not expensive in comparison to the Jamison brass line.

On the other hand, it's outrageous compared to to the .48 for Winchester and .49 for Remington 30-40 brass we previously paid.

Well, I did exactly that just before my last post.  This was where I went to do said price check and you're welcome to double check my math.

I understand that the prices may rise if and when the store receives more product.  I think I was also very clear in describing these as the prices we had previously paid.  I'm not one to make up facts.  You will find that the prices I quoted were what that brass was selling for when they sold their last bag.

Makes me glad I stocked up back in the day.................

Fortunately, my Krag brass lasts a long time, since I don't shoot the Krag at every match. I still have a coupe hundred in my stash. At least it doesn't have weird chamber dimensions that are hard on brass like the Lebel I shoot sometimes.

If they sold out that fast I'd guess there will be more.

They turn that brass out at 5-10000 in a lot. So there were a bunch of really happy Krag reloaders , and probably a few gambling on some profit taking at a later date..

Pitspitr

I just received this from Mustang Gregg:

"I just found out that I can get new .30-40 brass for $1.00 each.  It sounds kind of high.
If you're interested, let me know.  I will find the ad and find out who the maker is.

Merry GAF Christmas,
Gregg"
