Howdy,
Been awhile since I've been on here.
Moving and setting up a new shop took a lot of time.
A friend of mine has a very cool 3 digit open top '76 with a very good bore. 45-75
I've offered to load for him (black powder only).
I have a set of RCBS dies for my 45-60 and they work fine. Got them used off of Gun Broker.
What's the best way to go with new dies?
I see Lyman and RCBS Legacy dies are both reasonably priced.
Good...Bad????
Any suggestions gratefully accepted
Thanks
Scott

Buck Board,
I got some Lyman dies for my 45-70 over 20 years ago, when they were the only ones I could find.  I've used the heck out of them, and had no trouble at all.  I have some RCBS dies which I've had for about five years for my 45-60, and they work fine, too, so I guess it's a toss-up as to which is better.  Yes, reasonable price IS a consideration.  Good luck on whatever you decide.

The reloading for the 45/75 thread has good stuff- while I haven't fooled around w/ the cartridge, it appears that there are two different bore sizes- original and repro.  Might be a planning consideration.

I think you mean chamber size, not bore size. My Uberti has the oversize chamber. I don't think its actually oversize as it is the shoulder of the case is higher up than it should be. I have both Lee and CH4D 45-75 dies, however once I fireeformed my new Jamison brass, I have not full sized my brass, only neck sized.

I thought I was wrong once, but I was mistaken.
