I'm not really a serious collector of Stainless Cap Guns.  I am also not a serious collector of 2d Gen Colt Cap Guns.  I might could get
interested in em as shooters if I could get both for under a Grand.

Remember you can't take all that cash with you.  Treat yourself to them and then cut them down to make snubbies out of them.  You will be the only kid on your block with Colt 2nd Gen Stainless snubbies!  :o

Coffinmaker

No fair Pettifogger!!!  No fair at all  :o

Stainless, 2d Generation Colt ........... SNUBBIES??  My hacksaw is quivering in the tool box.  If I hadn't just about emptied the "Gun
Fund" for a pair of Capt. Schaeffer replicas, I could get real interested.  Good thing I are currently under funded.  They would even
be consecutive (meaningless but).

And ........  ;D ;D ;D ;D when I posted photos on the "Colt" forum, all those "Coltistas's" heads would EXPLODE.  I need a loan.

I wouldn't see anything wrong with making snubbies out of Colt 2nd Gens. Everyone seems to think the cartridge conversions are really cool when made from Colt 2nd Gens, this would not really be any different and there were cut downs back in the 19th century as well. I have a strong desire to take a Signature Series Military Model 3rd Dragoon, file off the Sam Colt signature and add a folding 3-leaf rear sight. Maybe even switch out the verticle latched loading lever for an ASM horizontal latched one to make it just like the originals.

Major 2

LP  .....I have replaced the back strap ( Uberti ) on many a Colt Signature Series gun .... for Film.
Way easier, and less time consuming ...

To me Sam'l Colt Signature on the back strap was just as archaic anachronism as Black Powder Only & Made in Italy on the Pietta barrels  for the HERO's Prop.
when planets align...do the deal !

LonesomePigeon

Few people seem to like the signature. If an Uberti backstrap will fit I would use it.

Coffinmaker

Lonesome,
Gotta remember there, the Colt Second Generation and Signature Series guns "were" Uberti's   :o ;D
