Can I use a bow and arrow in any of the categories?   ???
I'm looking for an excuse to create a native american character and make a long bow...
of course, it would require no hair cut between now and the muster, a good sun tan, a very close shave, and some dark dye for my hair...unless it all turns grey before then!   :P

Troy, you could always use some spray paint for the hair............

If you're serious, and as this is the Halloween season upon us, look for Black Cherry Jello or similar dark Jello. You can use it as a temporary hair dye.
Just hope it doesn't rain. Or the bees don't find you . . .

Or, Halloween costume shops or theatrical supply shops usually stock black dyes for temporary hair color change.

Thanks RCJ!  I am serious about an indian character.  I even shaved my moustache this morning!  I have the clothing to pull off an "apache" (cotton tunic, high top mocs, cotton breeches, headband), at least from 10 feet away.  I'd have more work to do to look like I came from a plains tribe.

There are some seasonal Halloween stores that pop up this time of year, plus the "Party City" stores.  I'll check there.

I tried a temporary dye this week.  It works, but it was MESSY!

I think I can live with the color for a few weeks to a month, so I'll just use a "permanate" dye wihen the time comes.  Previously, my vanity has had me use "Just for Men" for my beard/moustache, and it works okay.  I may do it this week for an match this weekend, as I now have a complete outfit for an Apache...including custom made (by yours truly) apache pointed-toe boot moccasins.  Next comes the plains indian impression...

Troy, I think for an authentic Apache outfit, you don't need any color for the beard and mustache, what you need for that is some tweezers, just to be "period correct".

Good Troy

The beard and moustache are gone!  The color is for the hair on my head, and I did it this evening!

Still don't understand why two guys who seem "fairly" normal (you know who you are) would be so obsessed with dying their hair black to portray an Indian. Wouldn't an "old" Indian have gray hair? MAYBE they're trying to be young again! On another note, will the 2017 skirmish be cap and ball friendly? My thinking is that 51 navies and 1860 armies would be the most historically accurate for 1866, but having to hit multiple knockdown targets 3 times to kill them with a .36 would be a PITA for the shooter, and really boring(funny for a little while) for everyone else to watch! Pretty sure I'm going as a civilian(Scout), because the Henry would be an appropriate rifle, and a helluva lotta fun!
It is far better to remain silent, and be thought a fool, than to speak and remove all doubt!

"Normal" is a setting on a washing machine!
I do fit the "obsessed" category though.  And, after a day of my hair pretty much all one color, I'm almost wishing that I would have dyed it all gray.  It will be back to "normal" in about a month.

I think that cap and ball revolvers would be fun and definitely period correct, too.  I'd like to use them in the event, as well.

Never had mine dyed or permed, never will.   I did get it cut just before the muster, should need it cut before the 2018 one again.

Driving me crazy, needs to grow out a little more so I can tie the back, new job don't allow hats or bandannas.

Working in a Qwik-Shop in the poor part of town, and loving it, the people are fantastic, almost every color and creed, except few of the Yuppie folks, glad of that.   Been told many times I'm now part of the hood, they all know my name.

Need to bring you guys something called Milwaukee's Best Ice or the one called Hurricane, must be good stuff, sell lots of it and it's only 99 cents for a 24 Oz can.

Milwaukee's Best Ice  there is reason it's  $.99 ...  it is malodorous ...read stinks .... if one can get by the putrid smell , it is like Schlitz
will leave you with a sick headache ...it is cheap drunk though.

I haven't seen Hurricane Malt down here ...though I don't really pay that much attention.

I have friend & ex coworker  , that got into Micro Brewing as a hobby ..now he is has changed his career ...and is a Lager & Ale Distributer for Shipyard and other malts.
