I will be hosting the 2017 Grand Muster, June 23th, 24th & 25th, at my farm.

This Muster will be open to anyone in the GAF. If not currently a member I can help you register. (Membership in the GAF is free and easy) By using Google Earth and going to  41°40'16.24"N Latitude and  99°19'42.54"W Longitude you can see the Grand Muster site. Registration forms will be available on the dispatches page of the Grand Army's Web site. Participation will be limited to 40 shooters. Registration is $80. Meals will be available on site from Delmonico. Those wishing to attend but not compete may do so without registration fee, but be sure to pay the meal fee if you plan to eat with us.

The planned activities include: a 4 stage GAF steel target main match, a Long Range Rifle match, a Precision Pistol match and a GAF Expansion Era Match. While 4 stages for the main match doesn't sound like much these four stages will be of the skirmish format and will feature about 20 knock down targets per stage. Stage design will recount scenes from Red Cloud's War of 1867. Round counts will be dependent on the number of times the shooter needs to shoot at each target to get it to fall. 100 rounds at least would be a good plan. This is a match that participants say truly needs to be experienced to be fully appreciated.

Shooters will be able to sight in their rifles on Thursday and Friday afternoon and evening. Sighting in your rifles for the distances used is STRONGLY encouraged.

Long Range Rifle will be 100-300yds. on armor so full power jacketed bullets are fine for it.

This muster will be a primitive camping event. We will have a tent city and I have tentage for about 10 individuals if you don't have your own contact me, I can help. We should have plenty of time to sit around the campfire and visit.

The average high temperature in this area on June 25th is around 84 degrees

I've attached a FAQ sheet and a suggested equipment list.

We expect to run 4 Squads shooting concurrently. Each squad will cycle through 3 of the main matches, the long range match and the sidearm match on Saturday. The Long Range Match and the Precision Pistol Match will each be treated as a stage. We will run ahead of schedule if possible.

The banquet will return to the Comstock Premier Lodge http://www.comstocklodge.com/ for 2017 and the price of the banquet is included in your registration. If you are bringing a spouse or child who isn't a registered shooter the cost of an extra ticket for them is $15.00 Lodging is available at the lodge as well (get your reservations early). I've also reserved a block of rooms at the Wildlife Inn at nearby Taylor as well (308-942-6234) early registration is also suggested

Karol and I are already looking forward to the '17 muster.  The last two have been just excellent.  We'll be there early again and planning to be available to help as needed...

CPL Jayhawker Jake

I've missed the last two due to work issues, but I'm going to do my damnedest to make this one.

Just a heads up. If anyone named Fetterman shows up, DON'T FOLLOW HIM!
It is far better to remain silent, and be thought a fool, than to speak and remove all doubt!

We are wanting to come out and shoot it next June.
I was re-elected into the American Legion post's adjutant position yet again.
But I may just HAVE to miss the Department meeting next year!   :P

Will be great to meet LTC Long and Mustang Greg, who I may have seen at a SASS convention but my memory is not the greatest.

I will stay retired so Emerald Anne and I should be there a few days early to help out.

Locals is there a closer RV place with hookups than Victoria Springs (it is really lovely so I could stay there).

Yes, there is a city RV park in Sargent with a few spaces, Taylor also has a small city RV Park  and my Dad has a small RV park about 10 miles away. None of them are as pretty as Victoria Springs.

So glad you will be able to attend. Cathy really enjoyed visiting with Ann and Shirley

Maybe we need to have our General put in a word with your Admiral (Does Guard have Admirals?)

The City park looks to have no shade, how about your dad's place for shade and 50 amp hook ups?

There's shade in the afternoon but not morning. I'll find out the amperage of his hook ups.

Hey General will you be putting up a registration sheet which we can download?

SWMBO aka Anne just joined a Choir and will be singing at Carnegie Hall NYC 14-18 June.  So much for me getting to Sargent on Monday to help set up.  We will most likely get there on the 21st. May actually stay until Tuesday this year, who knows.

Anne also just invited Shirley to link up again.  Once I get the info will register.  Love victoria springs, not loving the hour a day to and from the range.

I may not have a battle rifle (that I can get ammo for) by next Muster.
Is there still  a forager category for guys firing pistol-caliber rifles?

Respectfully,

Forager would be using a shotgun, but you can shoot either pistol or rifle caliber lever actions(2 different categories)

Delmonico

Greg would-be better off in the flame thrower class, the man is a heck of a cooks fireman.
